Because they own the copyright on the software they wrote to draw the typeface that nobody can copyright. Anyone can do this 🙃

I was playing a Castlevania that had these crates blocking routes. I was like, well something is going to let me break or push those, obviously, at which point I'll have to schlep all the way back here, and... ugh. It's not that interesting even when the power is an unknown most of the time

I think it does work when the game has novel ideas! The problem is when it's the seventh in a series where you always unlock turning into a ball or whatever
