There’s a bit in Our Man In Havana where the police chief talks about people are either in “the torturable class” or not. Relevant here IMO because what this really represents is a huge expansion of the class of people it’s now okay to fuck with and harm, which now includes middle class libs.

Here's the ICE agent "defending himself" by shooting into the driver's side window of a car that's pulling *away* from him.

Put this photo on the front page of every newspaper in America.

Yesterday we went up another percentage point towards our goal. Reminder that 40% ($200k) is an important milestone where we'll be able to finally bring on an editor full time. If you're looking for a moment to make an impact, this is that moment! gofund.me/0702ba937

objectively very funny to roll this new slogan out and then within 24 hours have this happen
Incredible. CBS Evening News announces five new “simple values” — instead of their “38-page handbook” — as they roll out Tony Dokoupil is lead anchor.

One of those values is simply: “We love America and make no apologies for saying so.”

The risk-reward with using AI in law, specifically to draft a filing, is *extremely bad*. This is not because lawyers are more special or precious than artists or coders or whoever else, but because of where the reality check occurs in the process, and the consequences of failing that check.
Again, if you write code with AI, you can see if the code compiles. If you write a legal filing with AI, you find out if it works when opposing counsel and/or the court tries to take your head off.
HAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHA

HAAAA

said it once, I'll say it a thousand times: legal research and drafting generative AI is not fit for the purpose

People are mad at this guy and raising "but what about these ways I can tell the difference!" as if it's a counter example. Broader context is obviously a claim about AI, and OP is claiming we'd obviously learn nothing about human cognition from the ability to build something that exactly mimics it!
I kind of disagree. If it looks exactly like a horse so you cannot tell the difference, and acts exactly like a horse so you cannot tell the difference, how is it in any way that matters not a horse? I believe this goes for any creature, humans included.

Consumer confidence data is basically useless for markets/econ forecasting at this point. There is just no universe where periods when inflation was 5x as high, real income growth was deeply negative, or unemployment was more than 2x current were better than the current backdrop.
