Highlight injustice, put oneself at risk, take the state violence while remaining nonviolent, generate images for the public, more see the undeniable injustice and grow more sympathetic, until state behavior changes.

That’s exactly how civil disobedience is supposed to work. Well done, Minnesota.

I am seeing quite a few nurses calling for a nationwide strike over the killing of Alex Pretti. I think we are seeing one of the largest workforces being radicalized before our very eyes.

It is increasingly clear that stripping the Department of Homeland Security down to the studs — ICE, Border Patrol, all of it — is the minimum we must do when we regain power.

But we can’t afford to wait that long to rein in these agencies.

Stand up a revitalized State Defense Force, recruit and train from extant state employees and volunteer observers and put 10k+ bodies between ICE and their targets, with cameras piping directly to a state database for prosecutions.
Someone asked what I would do were I the governor of MN. I would hope I'd be like Lincoln: once coming to the realization that there was going to be no way out but war, with utter honestly as to the stakes, using all his powers of persuasion to communicate that there will be sacrifice....

100%. If you want an alternative slogan you can go with "Abolish ICE before they kill again."
the only reason "abolish ICE" is seen as radical is that no one will say it but the far left. if every normie Democrat started saying it tomorrow it would move the overton window so far you'd have to squint to find it. my kingdom for leaders who understand they can shape public opinion.
Democrats officially going all in on the mealy mouthed “ICE needs training” narrative.

No. ABOLISH ICE.

I’m completely fed up with elected Representatives saying shit like, “Republicans will tell you behind closed doors that they don’t agree with what ICE is doing”.

Playtime is over. Professional courtesy no longer exists.

Name them, record them, and make it public.

I'm not sure Democrats in D.C. are aware that their base's rage against ICE has reached a level of blinding white-hot intensity.

They're worried about "looking weak" for voting "against law enforcement" when they should be worried a mob of housewives is going to come beat them to death if they do.

All I see is federal agents getting violent with residents, over and over, while Democratic leaders repeatedly tell those residents to calm down and not do anything in response. This is not sustainable.

We should take every last bit of ICE's kit and send it to the Ukrainians who need it and would put it to good use.

This is the defining quality of Dem leadership. They think about political decisions not in terms of what they want to achieve but by worrying about and minimizing backlash. They are looking over their shoulder nervously at the audience ten times more intently than they’re watching the road ahead.

LOL - Hakeem Jeffries providing real time example for @brianbeutler.bsky.social's hypothesis today.
The Democratic approach to building back power is:

1. Avoid contentious issues;
2. Pivot all discourse to unobjectionable appeals like costs;
3. Leave moral opposition to citizens of conscience, who have lost all trust in the party, but hope they vote Democrat anyhow.

Wrong top to bottom.
The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves
