NEW: Fortunately, the U.S. escaped the 2025 hurricane season mostly unscathed.

But a major storm will almost certainly hit in the next few years. When it does, the lethal effects of Trump's FEMA assault will be fully exposed.

Our @kennystancil.bsky.social surveys the damage in @prospect.org. 🧵⬇️
Trump’s Katrina Is Coming - The American Prospect
The president’s FEMA sabotage has all but guaranteed us more acute disasters in the future.

VA Democrats are on top of it.

Sounds like Mikie Sherrill and NJ Dems are thinking about it. www.politico.com/news/2025/12...

MD, NY, and IL and all other blue states not named CA should be moving heaven and earth to make this happen to save our democracy.

The bottom line for any Democrat who is running for federal offices in 2026 and in 2028 - have a concrete plan to reform and rebalance this MAGA #SCOTUS.

If you want to be POTUS commit to acting on reforming/rebalnacing SCOTUS on Day 1.

If you don't - gtfoh - and don't ask for my money.

John Roberts calling balls and strikes ... for his team.
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

My gut tells me INEOS just wants to ride through this season w/ Amorim and bring in Tuchel when he is done with England.

What we are watching now is not sustainable. The data points are piling up fast against Amorim. #mufc
This is just another game where I’m struggling to believe in Amorim succeeding sorry.

Up 1-0 against a relegation level West Ham team at OT, #MUFC shouldn’t need three CB's, extra full back and two defensive midfielders. Bringing on Ugarte instead of Mainoo. 😔

That goal from the Hammers felt inevitable.

Fuck Kavanaugh stops all my homies hate Kavanaugh stops

(for purposes of this post I'm including a federal district judge who just rightly concluded that the Supreme Court's racial profiling order is *not* controlling precedent under the umbrella of 'my homies')

Federal Judge Has No Interest In Taking Brett Kavanaugh’s Racial Profiling Opinion Seriously
The Trump administration cited Kavanaugh’s infamous concurrence to justify its immigration arrests. Judge Beryl Howell was having none of it.

Release the tapes.
Rand Paul tells me that he wants the full video of the Venezuelan boat strike released.

“And I think if the public sees images of people clinging to boat debris and being blown up, I think that there is a chance that finally, the public will get interested enough in this to stop this.”

John Roberts - “the chief justice who helped wreck numerous institutions vital to our democracy – they include fair, non-gerrymandered elections, a sane campaign finance system, the Voting Rights Act’s protections of minority voters, and the bedrock notion that presidents are not above the law.”
John Roberts has badly weakened our democracy. Will he ever stand up to Trump? | Steven Greenhouse

State and National Republicans have gone absolutely berserk over this ballot measure to block their gerrymander. It's been one lie and attack after another

To get one more GOP seat for Trump

Republicans really hate it when voters can block their shenanigans

Democrats just need to show up more to "engage" the Fox audience. Surely that will mitigate the damages from the propaganda from that toxic political platform.
Fox News' Will Cain: "I’m sure there are very honorable law-abiding upstanding citizens and contributors from the Somali community here in the United States, BUT..."

He goes on to say "we aren’t going to pretend here that all cultures are of equal value or the same."

In retrospect - this from AOC looks like a bad idea. There was no reason for her to discourage a primary run against Jeffries.

Don't forget AOC was one of the last hold out to keep Biden in last year's election.

Her political decisions/instincts raises questions about her strategic acumen.
Exclusive: AOC says Chi Ossé primary challenge against Jeffries not a "good idea"

this is not ok.
this stuff can never be normal.

Don't ever get desensitized to this kind of hate.
Trump goes on another racist rant about Somalis: "Ilhan Omar should be thrown the hell out of our country, and most of those people -- they have destroyed Minnesota. It's a hellhole right now. Those Somalians should be out of here. They have destroyed out country ... go back to your own country."

"The entire boat-strike operation is a murder conspiracy being carried out by the US government. Each one of these deaths is an execution without trial. You don’t need to go to the International Court of Justice in The Hague to hold Hegseth accountable." 🔥 @elienyc.bsky.social
Pete Hegseth Should Be Charged With Murder
No matter how you look at the strikes on alleged “drug boats”—as acts of war or attacks on civilians—Hegseth has committed a crime and should be prosecuted.

in 2006 Democrats swept into majorities in both the House and the Senate by tenaciously and relentlessly targeting the Tom DeLay Republicans w a narrative of "Republican culture of corruption."

This won't help.

"Kushner is continuing to collect these fees as he serves in a top foreign policy role for the Trump administration. This is precisely the kind of behavior the Foreign Emoluments Clause was designed to prevent."
1. Jared Kushner's trip to Moscow yesterday was not just unethical; it was illegal.

You cannot accept tens of millions of dollars from foreign governments and simultaneously conduct high-level diplomacy for the federal government.

It says it right in the Constitution.
Kushner’s Moscow mission wasn’t just corrupt. It was unconstitutional.
Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, has been traveling the world to participate in high-stakes foreign policy negotiations on behalf of the president.
