Finally got around to framing this year's embroidery projects.

I learned from my grandma when I was a kid, then picked it up again last year after the election as an alternative to doomscrolling before bed.

Sighing as I order a bumper sticker for my early 2000s jalopy: “I bought this before Akio went MAGA”
this is honestly just pathetic... I don't expect Toyota to be the vanguard of progressive politics, but I do expect them to have a long-term perspective, and Akio prancing around in Trump 2024 campaign gear just as the Epstein Files (and everything else) tank his presidency really fails that test
There’s a lot to unpack here. He probably would have better luck bribing him with gold, though.

Still, a lot to unpack.

The disingenuous whiners at the Seattle Times ed board actually suggested that Katie Wilson—mayor-elect and the founder of the Transit Riders Union (who used to do outreach at the bus stop on Third and Union)—doesn't know that the county, not the city, runs the buses. Cry harder, losers

This election fixes a weird problem Seattle has had for a while. Seattle has municipal courts. One of its muni judges, Pooja Vaddadi, is an ex-public defender. Unlike the judge she replaced in 2023, she doesn’t just take the word of police and requires the City Attorneys to prove their case.

Child marriage is heinous, but one thing I never see brought up in those discussions is that if you are under 18, you cannot file for divorce. If you are under 18 and married to an adult, they are your legal guardian and make decisions for you. That is not a partnership.
Most Minors Who Are Married Can't File for Divorce — Even if They Want To
The final installment of Wedlocked, our series about child marriage in the U.S., explores divorce.

a big runoff last night, in New Orleans:

Calvin Duncan was exonerated after spending *28 years* in prison; he tried to get his own case records from the New Orleans city clerk—but the office dragged its feet.

So Duncan ran to become city clerk himself, and yesterday ousted the incumbent.
Calvin Duncan wins Orleans clerk of court race - Verite News New Orleans
Duncan, a political newcomer and former prisoner, defeated incumbent Darren Lombard by a wide margin in Saturday's runoff.

Seattle used to fund so much transit service until covid (and jenny durkan)

In 2019, almost 75% of the city lived within walking distance of a bus every 10 mins or better. Today, it's only like 50%!

Time to get the buses running again!

Saw this little guy last night with the Salish Sea School in Anacortes, WA as part of their free community dock walk I volunteer as an interpreter for.

We can tell it is a giant pacific octopus from the single line of chromatophores on each arm.
