We've had more mass shootings in the last month than Australia has had this century. 16 dead in the worst one they've had in 30 years, and they're changing the laws so it doesn't happen again.

If lobbyists didn't control our representatives, we could do this, too.
BREAKING: Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese proposed tougher national gun laws after a mass shooting on Sydney's Bondi Beach left at least 15 people dead.

Everyone who got fired for saying something less offensive than this after Charlie Kirk's brutal, unjustifiable murder should immediately be given their jobs back with back pay and interest.
Trump doubles down on his Rob Reiner attack: "I wasn't a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person... He became like a deranged person, Trump Derangement Syndrome. So I was not a fan of Rob Reiner at all in any way, shape or form. I thought he was very bad for our country."

Rob Reiner either made your favorite movie, or made somebody you know’s favorite movie. If you’re a Californian, he’s also part of the reason you or your friends can get married. He has changed more lives for the better than this asshole commenting on him ever did.

For those of us worried AI is gonna end creative jobs, I heard a funny story this weekend from a parent of one of my kids classmates who happens to be a production designer. He builds sets and things like that. He's worked on Ray Donovan, Always Sunny, and a bunch of FX shows.

Setting aside the sheer moral depravity for a moment, Donald Trump attacking Rob Reiner after his murder is only going to serve as an accelerant to the growing public opinion that he is out-of-touch (affordability), cruel (ICE), and unfit for office (mental/physical health).

Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008.

Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.

Just in case any journalist or editor reading this is tempted to minimize Trump's Reiner post because it's a "showbiz thing" and "real" stories are happening: No. It's a President thing and a decency thing, and if you don't understand that those things are newsworthy, you are failing in your duties.

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

Wrote about how the late, great Rob Reiner had the most impossible 7-movie beginning to any director's career, and yet that's not even what he was most famous for:

This is Trump celebrating the murder of Rob Reiner. That's what it is. That's what we should call it.

People who said this sort of thing about Charlie Kirk were fired, arrested and banned from the US.

Saying this is profound sounds like an overstatement, but I’m at a loss for another way to describe it.
When I was depressed I thought everyone's life is defined by the worst thing that happens to them; the joy people are taking in Rob Reiner's work proves how wrong I was. Just as importantly, life on Earth is not defined by the worst things people do & say—please don't let this convince you otherwise

Rob Reiner: I'm going to make a coming of age drama, a fantasy adventure story, a romantic comedy, a psychological horror and then a courtroom drama.

Us: Across your entire career?

Reiner: In a 6 year period.

Us: That sounds-

Reiner: -Each one will be arguably the best movie in that genre.
