Between this and the Fifteen Years XKCD, it's a good time for Old Internet Gone Wholesome.
I got permission to share this, and I'm extremely grateful for that.

The Onion got this letter from one of our subscribers in Alaska. She works with dementia patients and decided to leave a copy in the car for each one.

This email made my year. Read it and you'll see what I mean. People are good.

I think about this little guy all the damned time.

I saw him in the DIA collection almost ten years ago and he's remained a permanent fixture in my brain ever since.

Art is fucking wonderful.

Oh no I just saw a picture of the art supply suitcase go by so it must be time for my yearly psa: don't buy that.

I've been given it many times in my life and it was usable once: in 1989.

"But I don't know what to get my artist friends/talented cousins for the holidays!"

I will help.

Ummm this isn't cute, buses only do this when they're extremely distressed
So this happened in Oslo yesterday. Four articulated buses got stuck in a roundabout.

Dutch hardware stores are masters of downselling:

"I need [thing] and [tool] to fix [problem], please."

"No you don't! Just use [regular item that everybody has in their house]. If it doesn't work, get back to me for [thing] and [tool] but it nearly always does."
Hi-Fi stores and

"I lost a loudspeaker spike!"

"I can't find this value(size) fuse anywhere!"

"I need a bolt for this wall bracket!"

you're welcome 🙂

Why yes, I do enjoy M&S Jaffa Cakes, now you come to mention it...
One thing i appreciate as a glasses wearer is you can go in to most opticians and say "i lost a bridge pad"

INSTANTLY a tiny old guy will Tom Bombadil himself out of a door you didn't even know was there.

He will have a box. And a tiny screwdriver.

And ten minutes later your glasses are fixed.

Look, Utrecht is a lovely little city that's well worth visiting, but I promise you it's not an undiscovered secret. Every summer they get hordes of Japanese tourists on a Miffy pilgrimage.

I 💯 agree with Bouba’s take.

I just think memories are short and knowing that Phil Spector was a gaslighting and violent monster gives you some perspective and context.
We must acknowledge that Phil Spector was a terrible human being. But I don't think that means we memory-hole anything he worked on (as we do for, say, Gary Glitter). Because the practical effect would be that we no longer hear the work of many WOC, just like Ronnie Spector.

"He puts his trousers on one leg at a time, just like everyone else." The teacher who said that inspired me to put them both legs at once. I tried the next morning at the top of the stairs. I broke my left leg and wasted my dad's morning. Turns out, one leg at a time is fine.

OK but like...didn't we already know this? There's a book called "Salt Sugar Fat: How The Food Giants Hooked Us" where the writer interviews a bunch of food and beverage CEOs, and *not one* of them will have their own products in the house, *especially* not around their kids.
