Trump is weak and the sooner we accept that, the easier it will be to defeat him.

You know the thing that will piss off Blusky the most is that what truly caused Musk's crash out and might have caused a MAGA civil war was DEMOCRACY. Literally because we won the WI Supreme Court race, Musk was kicked from government which made him bitter and lead to well this.

Always important to bear in mind that Truth Social posts do not have the force of law and sometimes Trump just says he’s doing things and nothing actually happens.
Trump claims “any document” signed by Joe Biden is “hereby terminated.”

He calls out executive orders later but obviously “any document” would be much broader and include legislation.

(He can’t legally do that but, as always, we get to watch how far he can push this without repercussions)

I really, really don't think the federal government wants Trump to try to go after exceptions to the pardon power rn.

One of the things about the Trump administration is how badly they're face planting at the courts, and even this SCOTUS can only give them so much room. (And I distinctly think that they may start pushing back more as a way to avoid association.)

this is part of why i hope he cracks and steps down, because at this point with the margin they have in the House the succession dispute would be *even fucking funnier* than the last one was
if mike johnson stepped down as house speaker, who would even want that shitty, doomed job?

Part of this is that it doesn't take a weatherman to tell you what way the wind's blowing, and part of this is that a big chunk of the rich folks on the right are starting to realize that a complete Trump flameout could truly bring about Woke 2: The Wokening.
Interesting that Politico is running a ton of "Trump and MAGA in trouble" pieces all of a sudden. 🤔

It is underrated how much of the fact that the Trump administration is constantly online and posting at all hours is because they have 0 ability to have recreation in Washington D.C. The city rightfully treats them like occupiers.
Stephen Miller is, and has always been a "Massive Whiny Little Bitch". He will be the first to bail out of here come January 21st 2029 or sooner (If impeachment happens), exhibit A: He moved his family to a military base, dude is the biggest coward to ever exists.

I think this is very accurate. Universities, in particular, don't think that democrats will extract a cost for complying with Trump because they're universities and such.

The answer is that they need to be held accountable so they realize that this isn't just a simple game theory bing bong.
They believe that Trump will use the formal powers of the government and whatever informal powers he may have to extract costs from them if they do not play ball and they equally believe that the anti-Trump coalition will not extract these costs.

So we need to extract those costs.
given how unpopular Trump is, it’s insane that civil society/universities/law firms are still asking themselves “how do I stay on Trump’s good side” rather than “how do I avoid facing consequences for complying with Trump’s illegal demands”

This seems to be the perfect distillation of the point that putting volunteer military with no law enforcement experience on the streets of an unfamiliar city actually worsens public safety

The thing is they always say this when it's not possible and then when the possibility actually comes, they factionalize, nit pick it to pieces, and then balk at the cost.

Medicare for All gets broadly positive polling pretty consistently until you, for example, spell out Bernie's actual proposal.
one of my most radical opinions,as someone who was posting that I don't support M4Ajust yesterday,is that I really do think that it is possible or likely even that people will veer sharply left on issues like this if society gets too shit.I just think we should have made society less shit before now
"Would you support or oppose creating a national health insurance program, sometimes called "Medicare for All," that would cover all Americans and replace most private health insurance plans?"

Support: 65%
Oppose: 26%

But the strong presidency is damaged by the fact that the competing viziers are often opposed to one another.
Like we're past the event horizon of strong presidency, weak president and into the singularity of strong presidency, no president

I can't help but think most of the media's response to trump is a combination of "we like him and want his policies" and also a whole heap of the sunk-cost fallacy mixed with "I'm rich so I obviously know what's happening."
In another era, the political media would be shoveling dirt onto Trump's political grave as a hopeless lame duck and shifting their focus to the 2028 Presidential race. But in this era they'll keep rooting for the Reichstag Fire or other event to keep pretending he's popular
New Gallup poll shows Trump's approval hit a new low for his second term:
-36% approve
-60% disapprove

His approval among Republicans went from 91% in January to 84% in November

I'm still *somewhat* confident that the balkanized US media landscape combined with Trump's personality cult mean we probably won't truly see the bottom get knocked out, but this is wild. Like this is 'not even the most insane gerrymanders imaginable will save your asses in the midterms' shit.

Everyone in politics, everyone in media knows what’s happening here: the White House is controlled by a repellant white supremacist who waits with bated breath for any opportunity to run nonwhite people out of America. They know who it is, what he’s doing. But they won’t SAY it.
Trump: “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries … denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.“
