The “AI = NFTs” comparison is honestly so utterly detached from reality that I genuinely find it hard to engage with the people espousing it because it’s so fundamentally silly
The predominent anti-AI position on bsky is that AI is useless, fake, shit and basically the same as NFTs, destined to collapse in months once everyone sees how poor it is. So anyone who suggests that it could improve or be useful to any boss in any situation in the future must be evil.

Too often when discussing trans rights, we’re forced to be on the defensive, as Republicans wage attacks.

Today, we take the opportunity to look forward by introducing my Trans Bill of Rights, a comprehensive vision to provide protections for all trans and nonbinary people.

Notepad should not know what the internet is. If you have notepad talking to remote servers you're already like 10 steps into a "factors leading to" slide.

What the heck are they doing over there
The AI features added to Notepad created a critical exploit vulnerable to loading a compromised txt file.

The fix is part of Patch Tuesday, so update your systems.

AI is not a feature I ever desired in Notepad. I should look into some alternatives...
AI-upgraded Notepad now exposes Windows users to critical exploit
A critical remote code execution vulnerability found in the AI-upgraded Windows 11 Notepad has fueled renewed criticism of Microsoft's forced AI feature creep.

Claude really does feel like it has something more going on than any of the other models. It's hard to say what exactly, and I think it is still limited by the architecture, but Anthropic is definitely at the forefront of making LLMs that can properly reason about things.

Beyond just the impact this will have directly, the speed at which anthropic is shipping these things is entirely dependent on them using their coding agents to do all the work to build them.

i fear that the left has become so reactionary to big tech capitalism that their aversion, distaste, and growing illiteracy around technology is just going to inadvertently help the capitalists succeed

it's completely insane how much the actual existence of LLMs has completely collapsed all respectable discourse on the subject to a set of conclusions which were, to put it mildly, controversial at best in 2019
five years ago, "to what extent can you understand things without lived experience" might have sparked some form of semi-enlightening dialectic. but prejudice and audience capture require the answer be "no. and you're dumb for asking. double-dumb if you apply my premise to journalism as a field."

I'll admit that I was a skeptic about this and I was incorrect.
This is the thing, right? The idea that LLMs would be as ubiquitous or capable in software engineering as they are now would have, around the time of GPT-2 or 3's release, been laughable.
the hype is, roughly, true. it is certainly more true than not. if you went and picked statements from 5 or 10 years ago for those which were true and those which were not, almost all of the true ones are "hype".

Early AI boosters (the type that pivoted from NFTs/metaverse shit) are basically a subspecies of semisentient slime mold. These are the people that made genai image/video gen the visual shorthand of fascism.

They deserve no credit for accidentally guessing right.
