“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

MLK Jr.

Loving does not mean ignoring abuse, bigotry and violence, but if hate grows within us, we are defeated.

Love is the difficult way through these brutal times.

Good night.

In the face of global trade shifts and uncertainty, we’re working to build a stronger, more sustainable, more competitive, and more independent economy.

Canada’s MOU with Alberta will ensure we can advance that mission together.

Wild how this article frames a full climate retreat as a friendly federal-provincial handshake. Alberta has spent a decade sabotaging the simplest climate policies in the country, and Carney’s response is to reward the obstruction by setting us back from meeting the Paris Agreement targets.

Nepenthes veitchii ‘Big Mama’ x ‘Pink Candy Cane’. Young plant with juvenile pitchers, but it is starting to color up nicely.

When I started growing Nepenthes in the 1990s, there were only 2 mediocre clones of N. veitchii available. Now, colorful line bred seedlings and clones are everywhere. 🌴🌱

I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

somehow it's "hoarding" when I keep my old tech as long as possible and resent forced obsolescence

but not "hoarding" when billionaires and tech companies suck up all the money and burn though the planet in search of endless growth
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

What hardly anyone knows: they can poison the water that remains.

And in eastern Oregon, Amazon is doing exactly that.

I need to undergo analysis to understand why billing is anathema to me. I know how to do it, indeed I do it well. It's not really that difficult. The end product, money, is something I need, and clients like to get their bills promptly... and yet I procrastinate. What is that about?

I made a social commitment this PM, perhaps a blind date, or at least an introduction. The request came from my best client and I figured it would be rude to say no. However, my age and energy are such that I no longer make week-day plans because work is so exhausting. Sadly, today, particularly so.
