So, my home town is having a meltdown on social media because a 50 year old brick and concrete bus shelter is being taken down to make way for a modern replacement.

Felt like this when mortgage payments went up a few years ago - yes, it's horrible to now be paying an extra £200 a month, but that's been happening to renters year on year and there were no sadface articles on that, just "market forces" and "nobody has a right to live in a city"
This house tax pretending is making me more insane than usual because as a renter I’ve had to move every 1-3 years just as standard because rents always rise. And no one cares. House owners get a tiny fraction of that precarity and suddenly it’s the worst thing that’s ever happened

It's such a bizarre framing. Labour MPs think taking 450k kids out of poverty is putting the country first! That's why they wanted it to happen! It's not because they personally benefit.

Stuff like this is a real helpful moment for everyone to stop and consider whether it was a good and smart idea to crush and hound the anti racism and anti austerity movement, because they were threatening the careers of the horrible clowns that are now in government. Has this worked out well?
![I don't think Danny Kruger is being taken seriously enough - this is far more extreme than anything the Conservatives were allowed to get away with. He is effectively saying that being anti-racist and being trans are contrary to British national identity and his party is leading the polls.

Reform are so dangerous and this headline doesn't do it justice. I also think a piece like this should start with the politician's core views just to emphasise the urgency.

I don’t know what to say anymore other than to remind those in power that refugees are human beings with equal rights who, along with their children, deserve a safe, stable & integrated life in their communities and that what they’re breaking now with this performative cruelty can’t be fixed later.
The Labour government does not want to rule out deporting somebody once here as a refugee 16-19 years with a British-born 15 year old child
