1. Even Justice ACB seemed alarmed at the implications of anti-trans arguments being used to discriminate against women more broadly during SCOTUS hearings on trans sports.

Experts say not to read too far into it, court likely to overturn rights.

Even Barrett Seemed Alarmed by the Implications of Anti-Trans Arguments at SCOTUS
Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who penned what might be the most virulently anti-trans Supreme Court document in history, had “concerns” about how Hecox and BPJ might impact cisgender women.

Between this, and the looming AI bubble burst, the US is hosed. And it's exactly what they knowingly, willingly, voted for.

No one should shed a tear, no more than they should for anyone else who chose fascism and found ruin.
What can history teach us about what happens when a populist strongman with an idiosyncratic taste for low interest rates undermines central bank independence?

We condemn ICE's killing of a Minneapolis woman today and call on federal agents to withdraw from Minnesota immediately.

This tragedy is further proof that ICE is out of control, endangering our communities, and must end its lawless operations before anyone else is brutally hurt or killed.

I wrote about reporters’ refusal to use “act of war,” “invasion” or “coup” when covering Trump’s brazen attacks on Venezuela, instead echoing WH-approved euphemisms, and the broader trend of our press dutifully giving Trump’s lawlessness the vague whiff of international legitimacy when it has none.

I know many things are awful but here is one genuinely useful and helpful thing you can do. No matter their party, your representative needs to hear that trans people and our families are not alone and this bill is an unjustifiable and extreme threat to criminalize the health care we need to live.

Tomorrow, the House of Representatives will vote on a bill that bans gender-affirming medical care for any transgender person under 18, and threatens any medical professional providing this care to youth with 10 years in prison.

Tell Congress to protect trans youth and vote NO.
Protect Trans Care Now

Each semester I go in my classroom and I try to figure out what we would use to block the doors, if it would be safe to crawl out the windows, where we could hide if there was a mass shooter in campus. It’s such an indictment of this country how we have normalized these preventable tragedies.

Today for World AIDS day, read our latest article about how one of the biggest opponents to AIDS healthcare, the Catholic Church, is back at it again by banning trans healthcare across their hospital systems.
U.S. Catholic bishops recently banned trans care throughout the church's sprawling healthcare systems.

@davidforbes.bsky.social delves into how this fits the institution's long history of hatred and abuse, a direction that has not changed despite its recent p.r. shifts.

I don't know what alternate reality you inhabit , but the party *was* united, united around stopping a catastrophic increase in ACA premiums leading to 5+ million uninsured, and a death spiral in the ACA market, and collapse of the service and delivery system.
Here's a thought. Perhaps it's time to stop with the back & forth haggling within the party and to focus on the issue at hand - making sure the safety nets that have been destroyed in the Big Bad Bill are fixed. Dems got them to return to DC. to do that. Then we can talk in-depth about leadership.
