This is the dynamic across most of America: Liberal cities generate revenue, which state governments then transfer to benefit conservative rural areas, whose residents despite city-dwellers and consistently vote to harm them. But politicians endlessly pander to rural voters and demonize cities.
Another critical piece of missing context in this story: tax dollars flow from the MSP metro to rural Minnesota. People in the city subsidize the lifestyles of people living in the country minnesotareformer.com/2023/12/04/t...

This is how far you have to scroll on the NYTimes homepage to get any coverage of what's going on day-to-day in an occupied American city where schools are closing because the government is checking the papers of all brown or Asian people then brutalizing, imprisoning or killing them.

The ChatGPT pull-up commercial is so funny bc if you actually read the advice that scrolls by super fast it’s just like “go to the gym and do pull-ups” but in an instructional tone. This is the revolutionary use case they are spending untold millions of dollars to pitch to the general public

Adhering to the War Powers Resolution passed in 1973, before President Trump authorized the raid on Venezuelan President Maduro he consulted with and fully briefed the leadership of the oil industry.
Reporter: Did you speak with the oil companies before the operation? Did you tip them off?

Trump: Before and after. They want to go in and they’re going to do a great job.

If I use a tool and ask “tell me what happened on [easily researchable and verifiable event]” and it spits out nonsense, and then I do it again and it spits out different nonsense, then even if there is a sequence of magic steps I can take to get around it, I’ll never be able to trust it.

truly amazing how many different professions there are where everyone’s newest persistent headache is “AI zealots high on their own supply”
Met a 40yo gallery-ist at a party in SF. We spent most of the party talking abt the art world, but mostly what she talked abt was how most of her life now is telling AI “artists” that they are not artists, she won’t sell their “work” in her gallery, & that “prompt writer” isn’t an artistic medium.
