NYC DOT legally has to apply temporary markings within 5 days of resurfacing a street (Local Law 28 of 2025) - we can debate if this passes the letter of the law, but if parking enforcement doesn't consider it sufficient enough to write tickets for parking in the bike lane it is not good enough.

Implied but not said - *public* data 😉

Is there good data on rates or commercial vacancies anywhere?
jehiah.cz
This seems like a not great metric? Some could be just trading down for cheaper leases?? I feel like anecdotally that market still is holding onto inflated rates and vacancy hasn’t gone down much

“Businesses leased 23.2 million square feet of additional Manhattan office space”

Yes. I reported it. 311-24768208

For the first time in over year and a half barriers were NOT blocking the bike lane on this block of 10th Ave!! @nyc.streetsblog.org @ebottcher.bsky.social

Ain't no cyclist in NYC ever waiting single file. Ever.

Double file at best, but that won't stop us either. Triple wide is normal plus those who know they will start quickly should queue jump past the crosswalk.

I agree with this and it’s why the city should use its leverage to require all new TLC licensed vehicles have ISA to eliminate speeding.

This is good news.

A few vehicles with Intelligent Speed Assist can have an outsized impact on safety bc they’ll also prevent vehicles behind them from speeding.

After spending 43 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, evidence hidden by the prosecution reversed his conviction. Rather than finally enjoying freedom, ICE abducted him for deportation

Depraved.

That was definitely the % unprotected. Fixing. Thanks for the catch.

Ooh you might have found a bug. I might have missed a spot multiplying by number of lanes.

I got a call back on this 5hrs later but MTN officer I spoke with said they spoke to the car wash and was receptive that it’s ongoing and chronic. I tried to stress that they need NYPD Traffic to not ignore this block.

Click through and look how long the list is of YIMBY bills signed in California today.

NY state legislative leaders are holding back similar progress.

Lots of excitement over SB 79—understandably. I would add, every single bill California YIMBY sent to the governor was signed today. www.gov.ca.gov/2025/10/10/g...

I think the original incident which I assume was rear ending another car happened 4 blocks prior 😬😬😬

Not a good day to be on a Hells Kitchen Sidewalk!

4 injured after a taxi driver crashed into a pole and a 33-year-old male pedestrian. 42nd St @ 12th Ave

So was it “medical episode” “lost control” “possible mechanical failure” “swerved to avoid another vehicle” or some other excuse?
Glad no pedestrians were killed or maimed or had their legs torn off.
Another day on Eric Adams’ streets.

Here is an idea for Simcha Felder - reporting on low-usage parking spots that see use less than 100 times a month.

Council Member Simcha Felder introduced todays bikelash bill - Reporting on low-usage bike share stations.

Some people simply can't comprehend that the average bike station is used 3,659 times a month.

Our pay equity bills are up for a vote today — and we’re confident they will pass. These bills follow the cutting-edge blueprints set by the European Union and the UK — proven models for closing wage gaps and bringing pay equity out of the shadows.
jehiah.cz
NYC has been helping lead on wage equality in the past few years - Two additional bills are up for a hearing tomorrow.

Would require employers with 200+ employees to submit annual transparency reports, and for the city to do an annual pay equality study.
