NYPD resolved 26.8% of Illegal Parking reports with a disposition of "summons issued" in Oct 2025, up from 19.9% in Oct 2024🧵
1.3 Million parking spots in NYC are in parking lots like this.

Believe it or not, this is Manhattan.

NYC might not have as much transit oriented surface parking as other cities, but there's still a lot!

I will follow you if you ride a WorkCycles.
Another year, another #treebybike this is one of the best. Another banger from Bud garden centre in Burnage 🎄. And thought I’d post a photo of the Christmas Tree Modal Filter

It gets worse. A 6hr train trip to BWI but the Amtrak engineer must have been on his phone because they blew past the stop - had to get off at New Carrollton and wait for a train headed the other way. Now a 7hr journey.
Ahh yes, just what I want. A 3hr 30min dwell time on the train in Philadelphia.

Seriously @amtrak.com ?

I should run this for every council member based on their own bills. I bet Crystal Hudson would easily come out on top.
Here is my live scorecard for the 2024-2025 council session

At the end of 2024 I posted rankings of NYC Council members based on bills I was watching.

Julie Menin was 37th last year, now slightly higher at 28th.

Crystal Hudson is 2nd. That's who I want as speaker.

What a stupid headline. Governments have a choice when building high speed rail, they can either

1) focus on the outcome of getting it built in a reasonable timeframe

2) focus on excessive process and make the project delayed and over budget.

Props to Canada for choosing option 1

It's the afternoon before a major holiday so i'll dump some data to liven it up.

NYPD issued 8,946 summonses for public urination (§16-118(6)) this year up +11% from the previous year.

If you’re a guy, there are a few hotspots you might want to avoid

The Manhattan delegation is out of step on this.
see if this turns out but if Julie Menin is right that she's secured a supermajority on the Council for Speaker, it looks like nearly everyone outside the Progressive Caucus / everyone outside the "Commie Corridor" unified behind Menin www.crainsnewyork.com/politics-pol...

Yeah, this relies on far more Republican support than any self-respecting Democrat in 2025 should accept.
November 26, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Ah yes, such a strong principled Democrat she has support from all city council Republicans.

That’s really all you need to know.
Seems very solid. All the Republicans, the moderates and even some progressives seem to be supporting her.

Of course the vote isn’t until Jan. 7 so there’s still the potential for people to be peeled off. But it seems like she’ll be the next City Council speaker.
Julie Menin announces she has the support to be the next council speaker
The council member from Manhattan claimed to have 36 votes and the backing of four unions.

*technically* DOT is not in violation of the law (they have 38 days left), but DOT is really tardy in posting how many Speed Camera + Red Light Camera violations were rejected in Q3 2025.

In the mean time, I'll keep refreshing to see when they post it.

Undoubtedly. Pixar, and the others. Look at my assessment density map. Emeryville sticks out for how many huge, valuable parcels they have.

This block on West 41st by the Michael J Quill Bus Depot used to be full of illegal parking (No Standing Anytime)

On October 8th someone in NYPD Traffic woke up and started writing tickets. 40 tickets for "Fraudulent Use Parking Permit" since. Now that block is empty.

Started the day yesterday giving my wife a ride home after coffee - ended it 4 trips later treating myself to ice cream while waiting to pick up a kid. (Cup holder doubles well as an ice cream holder)

I absolutely love biking in NYC for transportation.
