Government actors who refuse to be bound by the rule of law are not morally entitled to its protection.
KARL: Did you know about the judge's order when you issued your order for the planes to continue?

KRISTI NOEM: This is an activist judge. We comply with all federal orders that are lawful and binding.

But for Dems who want to harness No Kings energy, without falling into (what they see as) the trap of uncut anti-Trumpism, there are many things they can promise to do with power in 2027-2028, then in 2029 and beyond. Some even overlap with kitchen-table issues! www.offmessage.net/p/a-no-kings...

i would again like to remind everyone that NEGATING A FRAME REINFORCES IT

"he's not really targeting criminals" makes it an argument about criminality

"this is a fascist attack" states what is actually happening

START WITH WHAT IT IS
not what it isn't

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution & unacknowledged by our laws.

There is something strangely fascinating about the fact that right-wing mental model of major US cities has not changed in a half century despite the fact that those cities have basically the opposite set of problems from those they had back then.

frankly the only way i think one can continue to stare at the abyss and not want to jump in is finding joyful things that make fighting against the abyss feel that much more urgent and worthy of the energy. forcing you to only abyss-gaze is, in some ways, a pro-abyss stance

It strikes me that if we had swarms of masked men with weapons of war roaming Wall Street chasing down tax cheats and white collar criminals, many Americans would respond differently than they are to swarms of masked men with weapons of war roaming the streets of LA chasing down brown people.

Chatbots — LLMs — do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When they’re “right” it’s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. That’s all.

Had some more to say on the "riots" and "invasion" in LA.

If it’s a "riot," it’s the police who are rioting. If there’s an “invasion” of LA, it’s the US military that is invading.

It is 100% carrying water for the opposition to participate in this collective delusion that Dems for some reason need to answer for every teen who throws a rock rather than hold the Trump admin accountable for intentionally creating chaos and breaking the law to stoke violence.

They are in charge.

The centrist, moderate, safe, poll-tested position here for elected officials and pundits is to blast the Trump admin using every argument they can.

Anyone who isn't doing that should be asked why they're trying normalize the deployments and enable Trump's fascism.
Brand-new polling from YouGov out this AM finds Trump's actions re: LA underwater. Double-digit disapproval on sending in Marines.

This should be a reality check for those people arguing the protests inherently help Trump bc his immigration approval # is positive.

what people seem to believe is that there is a large number of criminal, layabout immigrants who can be easily found and deported. they support doing so snd are dismayed by the deportation of otherwise law abiding people. the problem is that the criminal group is imaginary!
Wow. New CBS poll finds majority (55%) supports the *general goal* of deportations, but a bigger majority (56%) dislikes how Trump is carrying them out. And 63% want due process.

Again, we need a better discourse around public opinion on immigration, as I've argued:

I just have to say for those of you not in LA that in the days before the horrible raids started, there was no crisis or whatever they would let you believe. It wasn't like something was escalating out of control and somebody had to step in. THEY are creating the problems.
