An arsonist hit a Mississippi synagogue Saturday. Seven Torahs were damaged or destroyed in the fire.
One Torah, from the Holocaust, was in a glass case and wasn't touched.
The same synagogue was bombed by the KKK in 1967.

I remain quite angry at the people, many of them fellow Jews, who spent so much energy worrying about leftwing campus antisemitism when it was so clearly used as a distraction from the growing acceptance of mask-off Nazism within the Republican party. So many people allowed themselves to get played.
We need to read this. People need to understand. Antisemitism IS actually an urgent threat, but the crisis point isn't campus protests.

Yep. I went to do some Hannukah shopping at Rosenbloom's world of Judaica last week and I thought about this.
I promise if you’re not Jewish and don’t know any Jews quite well you really do not understand the level of justified paranoia baked into most public Jewish gatherings: Security at swimming lessons at the JCC, off duty police outside a bar mitzvah as a favour, etc. It shocked me.
Synagogues were safe until they weren’t. JCC were safe until they weren’t. Public beaches, public parks…risk is something I think about every single time I take my family to school, pray, exist as Jews

One of the things about being Jewish is that the calendar ritually mandates that you be sad some days and joyful other days regardless of what is happening in the world, and I think about that every time Jews get slaughtered on a ritually joyful day.
