The needs have intensified x10 since I shared this fundraiser earlier in Dec.

Help us help our neighbors in Minneapolis:

Hey guess what, you can help!

We're collecting funds to support our neighborhood elementary school families with basic needs (food, winter gear, etc.).

Donate, repost, share the link with friends/neighbors, etc. Thank you! ❤️

If you don't live in Minneapolis and want to ask someone in Minneapolis to do something for you that isn't urgent and important... don't.

Wait.

Don't pester us with unimportant stuff right now.

I went to ACE to get a big ice chopper thing (for sidewalks).

As I was walking back home with it I made eye contact with an employee at our neighborhood Mexican market.

She looked at my situation (neighbor walking around with a very large metal ice chopper) and we both smiled. 😊
This is Minneapolis:

Walk into my neighborhood ACE last night & see the signage on their door notifying fed agents that it’s private property and cannot be used for immigration enforcement. These signs are all over the city.

Walk in & the nearest shelf has goggles & whistles.

This is Minneapolis.

More and more neighbors are putting up signs signaling their opposition to the federal invasion we’re experiencing.

Shit is kind of bleak, but on the other hand, I had always kind of assumed that there wasn’t anything I really believed in enough to willingly give my life for and I guess I know that’s not true now.

Seems like TokiDoki may have had a fire overnight? Saw these outside the door and the fire alarm lights were still flashing inside.

standing at the bus stop this morning a nice lady walking her yellow lab comments “it’s icy on this corner!” I reply “thankfully not ICE-y though!” and the way she laughed at my dumb joke and the way she flashed her whistle at me was so bolstering. we are gonna win!!!!

Hundreds of Twin Cities high school students walked out Monday to protest ICE operations in Minnesota. Some schools are reporting 30% drops in attendance as families fear leaving their homes, with districts pausing field trips and offering virtual learning options.

A lot of non-Minnesotans are asking how they can help people in the Twin Cities. Here's a very easy way that will cost you absolutely nothing.

Do not vent in the replies to videos or other posts from Minnesotans.

We're all on edge, and your rageposting and doomposting isn't what we need right now.

I cannot stress enough how helpful it is to get whimsical messages from people overseas, a silly picture from a neighbor, and calming messages from a friend. No one needs anger sent to them right now.

People who aren't in Minnesota might not know that if you drive or walk past pretty much any school, there's going to be a group of people, parents and childless, standing guard to make sure the kids are safe from feds. It's pretty remarkable. And very disturbing. www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...

Is it bad when your friend in Turkey are messaging you asking if you're safe and the videos they are seeing are true.

Maybe it’s the “I moved away for a decade” part of me, but when folks elsewhere ask me how I’m doing right now I tell them I cannot answer that w/o crying.

Instead, I offer to share a few anonymized stories from the day of what my vulnerable neighbors have been facing for over a month.
Check in on your MN friends. Ask how they're doing. If they say:

"Pretty good, you?" They're probably ok.

"Just fine, howryou?" They're struggling, exhausted, hanging on but close to the edge.

"Oh, doin ok" Send help. The situation is desperate.

Big love and solidarity to council President Payne for doing more than most elected officials at any level do for their constituents. No one signed up for this.

They want to bring 1,000 more agents so we will need thousands of neighbors to come together and alert neighbors of any immigration enforcement.

We will win.

They will run away with their tails tucked between their legs, their goals unaccomplished, and we will still be here.
Positive thought to end the day:

The amount of organizing & mutual aid happening in Minneapolis right now is NEXT LEVEL.

We will protect our neighbors & get through this as best we can.

We are so much stronger together. And we are SO together right now.

I ❤️ you, MPLS.

Fellow Minnesotans: TIL it can be helpful to scream.

Specifically, when driving alone & overwhelmed by the horrors of the day.

I did this tonight, for the literal first time in my life, & it helped.

Let it out, in whatever way feels right to you.

It should also be noted the Council President was assaulted and it was filmed by another City Council Member @jchavezmpls.bsky.social

This is the world we are living in
ICE just indiscriminately stopped a citizen at a bus stop in front of the co-op. If this is how they treat the President of the Minneapolis City Council who is legally observing, just think of what they’re doing to everyone else in our City.
