An update on George Floyd Square:
More than five years after George Floyd's killing, the Minneapolis council is still struggling to find a shared vision forward. Community groups will offer their plans next month. And the council has possibly revived a mixed-use plan right as their term ends. share.google/q3lEqJhJjdR2...

My colleague Brian Martucci wrote an article about a new affordable housing apartment complex in Uptown which includes family-friendly units (including kid-resistant materials in the apartments).

He also reports on how much affordable housing the city has developed in the last 2 years.
The Lakefield Apartments at 550 W. Lake St. include 15 family-sized units, helping add to much needed affordable housing. "In 2024, the city of Minneapolis green-lit zero multifamily projects larger than 20 units," Brian Martucci reports.

Jazz Hampton just made a video to say there are 15 days left until Election Day (he said more in the video, I'm sure). And WOO BOY. 15 days. That is so soon. Oh and the sun sets at 6:19 p.m. tonight. Happy Monday!

Per the City of Minneapolis: "This year’s early voting total is the second highest the City of Minneapolis has ever had for a municipal election."

Minneapolis has about 253,000 registered voters, roughly 58% of the population. Of those voters, about 9% have already cast ballots.

My mailer haul from yesterday, 10/29/25. Five pieces of election mail. Not complaining, just observing. It was four pieces the previous day. 10/28 had two pro-Frey mailers, 10/29 all progressive mailers including a hand-written envelope from Amber Frederick campaign (Park & Rec).
