this ongoing situation (ICE's medical claims processor still isn't accepting new claims) is impacting people's care.

What *is* clear is that DHS itself—in an extremely unusual admission—said the lives, health, and welfare of people in detention were at risk.
🧵 Within weeks of Tricia McLaughlin suggesting that the medical care in ICE detention is the best many immigrants have ever received, DHS officially acknowledged putting the lives of detained immigrants in danger.

More below on a shocking turn for the worse in an ongoing human rights crisis.

perhaps niche, but I heartily recommend Designing with Palms. It's so well written and laid out. Really a delight to find a clear mission with the chapters. Lush, genuinely usefully inspiring, realistic, practical. Fun. fantastic at every level.

If I was a mayor, or ran a city’s transportation dept, I’d be meeting frequently with the local police chief/deputy chiefs, explaining the MANY public interest reasons why we want as many people as possible riding bikes, and how their approach to bike theft, ticketing, etc makes a BIG DIFFERENCE.

Through our reporting, it became clear that patients and doctors don’t have all the information needed to make informed decisions about the medicines they take or prescribe.

So we created Rx Inspector, a tool that aims to help:
How We Created a Tool That Tells You Where Your Generic Drugs Were Made
For decades, the FDA made it nearly impossible to know which factories were manufacturing your generic medications. ProPublica built a tool to show you. Here’s how we did it.

You don't study a vaccine that prevents deaths when it has already been shown, conclusively, through prior studies and historic experience, to be safe and effective. To do so is to condemn some study participants to certain death. This is unethical, immoral, and plain evil, and JFK Jr. is to blame.

if seattle had this we could build mass timber + passivhaus 15- to 20-plexes w/ abundant community space

the numbers work.
Oregon's new statewide model zoning code includes a huge density bonus for community land trust & limited or shared equity co-op homes if all are affordable at up to 120% of median income.

Putting land into shared ownership for 90+ years gives you 3 additional stories, up to a total of 6!
