Hi Everyone!
I'm Heather. A lot of new people have joined me in the last 24 hours so I thought I'd answer some frequently-asked questions.

1. Where do you live? - I live in Manitoba, Canada in a provincial park on Lake Winnipeg. It is a wild area of the boreal forest, but not remote. 1/
A break from my enormous collection of polar bear pictures.
I took this one from my kayak on my last paddle of the year in October. It was only a few degrees above freezing but I was hoping the find the coyote pack again. I found one of their sentinels, but not the whole group. #mammals 🌿

It is -20°C this morning. The lake is locking up, but not thick enough to walk on yet.

Polar bears are intelligent and will look for ways to keep busy when they have nothing better to do. Gnawing on this dry carcass is exactly that - a mindless way to pass the time while waiting for the bay to freeze. #BearSeason2025 #mammals 🌿

This is hilarious.
Thanks to Sesame Street, we have a Knives Out puppet mystery.

The encounter that took what was already a great #BearSeason2025 right over the top. Arctic foxes are not the easiest to find around Churchill so getting to spend time with this cutie who is still changing into their winter coat was amazing. #mammals 🌿

For my first #ArtAdventCalendar this year I'm going for the piece that I'm proudest of, I really had a good play and experiment with it and am so happy with how it turned out. I'd had the idea for a while and then everything clicked...

It's that time of year again for #ArtAdventCalendar!

For Day 1, we're starting off with my latest painting that I just finished yesterday:

“Misty Forest”, an 18”x24” oil painting of a dark, closed-in forest with breaks of sunlight and fog. (with slightly-hidden kitty)

Day 1 of the #ArtAdventCalendar.
I can't believe it's another year. I don't share this one often, but I'm rather proud of this diorama of the effect badgers have on the grasslands and other wildlife. - digital painting.

It’s been a baking day. First I made orange, cranberry scones, and now I’m trying my hand at crumpets for the first time.

I've heard from my friends in Churchill that the ice has arrived and the bears are finally heading out to break their over 150 day fast. (this photo is from a few weeks ago) Hudson Bay is still a long way from fully frozen, but at least they can get out and start hunting. #BearSeason2025 #Mammals 🌿

I think we could all use a polar bear cuddle pile to brighten up our timeline. These two cubs are about 11 months old and will stay with mom until 2.5-3 years. #BearSeason2025 #Mammals 🌿
