I think it’s time to put this one back out into the ether, friends

Come and learn about how the tropes undergirding anti-Jewish hatred and conspiracy theories as they exist today came to be…
The Antisemitism Post (tm)
Gotta get the history to know where the tropes live in the discourse today.

In English, someone who is being persistently annoying can be referred to as a “pain in the arse.” My favourite German equivalent is Nervensäge, which means “nerve saw”

Ok palate cleanse time. In case you missed it, here's my most popular post ever
4 yrs ago today, a family member managed a truly spectacular own goal, splintered his domestic bliss, & in the process, united the world for a day.

On popular request, I shall now recreate the livetweet thread from that day

So gather around children, for this is the tale of The Rice Truck Saga

Bari Weiss is a good example of Arthur C. Clarke's definition of intellectual: someone who has been educated beyond their intelligence.
The new editor of CBS News thinks that Alan Dershowitz and Dana Loesch debating the 2nd Amendment is “news.”

So, pour one out tonight for the actual journalists at CBS who have to listen to this drivel in the am news meeting

(She also says Dersh is “charismatic,” but that’s the lesser horror)

in the last 1.5 years journalistic fact-checking has become significantly harder specifically bc of this, without touching all the other ways education and knowledge-sharing are under attack rn (book bans, censorship, media industry crumbling, etc etc)
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

Trump's Education Dept wants to 'declassify' nursing as a professional field. In its proposal, the department is changing definitions of professional degree programs & excludes nursing altogether. Changing the definition blocks nursing students from federal loans & loan forgiveness programs👇

The military has a duty to refuse unlawful orders, but Congress has a duty to remove from office a president and secretary who would issue such orders. There is something off about members of Congress talking about the former while refusing to say the latter, the part that's actually their job here.

We did something different with the credits for Demonschool. We used this format: name, title, lengthy description of what they did. Often you see credits in games where you don't know what the credited developer was actually responsible for. We wanted to give people proper, actual credit.
