One way I would sometimes frame this for art people is that something like WTFPL makes your intent clear to individuals, but it’s gonna scare off users who work for corporations with legal teams, which may be a positive or negative depending on your goals.

The important flip side to this is if you spend your time complaining online about LLMs and witch-hunting and your workplace is not unionized, cool, there is a more productive and less toxic way for you to spend your time

Sure, but I mean, “US geopolitics and corporations suck” is normal compared to “I am too physically sick to even step outside my apartment without it causing a weeklong fatigue crash”

I found out that you can reuse a decades old calendar if its year’s dates line up with the current year’s, so this year I got a lovely 1998 Xena: Warrior Princess calendar. The way they added show events into it is cracking me up.

This is a well-written argument.

And is roughly where I stand: I think code LLMs are interesting, but it is rhetorically important to oppose their use in the workplace in the name of the solvable labor concerns they currently exacerbate. If we win that battle, cool, bring on the next discussion.
We're not subtle with all our sassy skeeting about it, but it's probably time for a persistent, official statement about our stance on AI.

TL;DR: we know what we're talking about. GenAI is harming creatives. There will be no AI features in Yarn Spinner. yarnspinner.dev/blog/why-we-...
Why We Don't Use AI | Yarn Spinner
We get asked about AI a lot. Whether we’re going to add it to Yarn Spinner, whether we use it ourselves, what we think about it. Fair questions. Time to write it all down. Yarn Spinner doesn’t use the...

Hearing people suddenly talk about GDC is weird. It feels like I'm frozen in a time bubble, doing nothing but sleeping and meditating and tending to my gut microbiome as I live the life of a weird sick monk while everyone else's lives go on normally.

Xylitol is *extremely* weird and cool. Eating xylitol mints after every meal literally fixed my dental problems — when the bacteria that cause cavities eat xylitol, it fucks them up from the inside and causes them to functionally starve to death

I don't want to stop anyone from using the tools they want, but I think this is useful info to disseminate, especially since NONS/Enovid is both more expensive and harder to get than alternatives that have stronger clinical evidence (even if they're *all* sort of fudgy bad science)
January 13, 2026 at 9:30 PM
If you look up the paper published by the Enovid creators about its use as a prophylactic, the study design was literally without exaggeration "we gave some college kids spray bottles, didn't do anything to confirm they actually used it, and then had them self-report whether they got COVID"
January 13, 2026 at 9:27 PM
The evidence for NO spray (e.g. Enovid) is meaningfully worse than any other options (xylitol, iota-carrageenan, or ELAH for "non-pharmaceutical" options, Azelastine for an OTC med). It has good evidence for reducing the duration of an active infection, but there are better options for prophylaxis.

The single funniest joke about a game being so bad it harms your computer is the time in ~2002 when Daikatana *literally, without a lick of exaggeration* crashed so hard it corrupted my hard drive and I had to reinstall Windows
i know it's 90% off but a warning to potential customers not to buy the steam version of heavy rain. it is not safe. it installs heavy rain on your computer
