It does basically suck that you can't be an actual abolitionist and be mayor in any place in the US really, because you will be brutally and probably openly murdered by your own cops
We are so fucked when Mamdani inevitably does something a typical Major Blue City mayor would do, like sic cops on protesters or cut the ribbon on Goldman Sachs' new building or whatever.

We're all going to need to get real cool with how much weird parochialism comes with this particular job.

For parents of color, advocating for their kids means fighting both transphobia & racism. Rainbow in Black wants to help families through it all.

Funny how when a person is killed in traffic, according to the Post it’s the “car” that did it but when anyone comes along to make streets safer it’s an attack on “drivers.”

This is why @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social needs to go all in on street safety, bike lanes, bus lanes, pedestrians plazas and more. The Post – and the Right in general – is going to call anything he does a “war on drivers” no matter what, so why not just do what’s right and go for it?

In the Netherlands 🇳🇱, data shows that for a 30 minute trip on a regular bike, only 13% of people are willing to ride. But for a 25 minute trip on an e-bike, that probability jumps to 28%.

E-bikes don't just make riding easier, they drastically expand the acceptable range for bike commuting.

In a past life I reported about this a lot. There is a French-based group called the Association of Accidental Americans, which sued the US, saying that the cost to renounce US citizenship (which, back in 2023, was over $2300) was unconstitutional. They're still fighting that today.
currently reading about the concept of "accidental americans", ie people deemed a citizen by US law despite their seemingly-nonexistent connection to the country, in the context of international taxation and it's genuinely absurd how we have a citizenship-based tax system that is SO also punitive.

The fact that OpenAI put a rule about not using ChatGPT for self harm in the terms of service means they knew it was going to drive some people over the edge and they smirked and shipped the damn thing anyway.

We need to make -way- more use of the corporate death penalty.
Additionally, OpenAI argues its not liable because Raine, by using ChatGPT for self-harm, broke its terms of service
