Outside Chicago's federal courthouse, a small rally is still underway in response to the arraignment hearing today for the "Broadview Six."

One of the six, Joselyn Walsh, leads a small group in song with her guitar; nearby, codefendant & IL congressional candidate Kat Abughazaleh speaks with press.

Honestly just absurd charges. Absolute worst case here, they joined dozens of other people in making a car drive slower than it might have done otherwise. Meanwhile, our entire federal government is run like a cartel.
The govt claims the six blocked an ICE-operated vehicle headed to the facility; Abughazaleh's atty Josh Herman said the govt's allegations are "turning protest into a criminal conspiracy."

"This case creates a conspiracy about people standing together spontaneously to protest injustice," he said.

NEW: DHS ingested a trove of highly unreliable Chicago police records on people accused of having gang ties to feed an FBI watchlist and then just ... didn't delete it for seven months after being told to do so because no one noticed. Scoop from @dell.bsky.social, and is outside our paywall.
DHS Kept Chicago Police Records for Months in Violation of Domestic Espionage Rules
The Department of Homeland Security collected data on Chicago residents accused of gang ties to test if police files could feed an FBI watchlist. Months passed before anyone noticed it wasn’t deleted.

It just wasn't a big, newsworthy deal like, for instance, the college applications of a mayoral candidate to a school he didn't get into or attend.
To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?

Good afternoon from Chicago's Federal Plaza. A rally is underway now in support of the "Broadview Six," who face arraignment in about 45 minutes on federal conspiracy and impeding charges, stemming from their participation in a Sept. 26 protest in front of the Broadview, IL ICE facility.

time to break the circuit, blow the fuse, close the center
anything JB Pritzker or Brandon Johnson say about non-collaboration with ICE or border patrol is immediately undermined by the presence of a Fusion Center in Chicago

Superintendent Snelling came up through counterterrorism, a made up construct to divide oppressed people globally

no fusion centers
Boston's Michelle Wu has attracted notice for standing up to Trump on ICE raids. But her stance is undermined by the city's fusion center, which civil liberties advocates have warned abt for yrs: "The whole purpose of it is federal & local law enforcement collaboration."

Illinois needs a progressive income tax. It should be on the ballot every year until it passes.

Almost every other funding idea they come up with is just bullshit nibbling around the edges in ways that still predominantly tax working people instead of those with real wealth.
A corporate head tax will be paid out of a personnel/staffing budget.

Which means less money for workers in Chicago compared to other places.

Corporations don’t pay the head tax.

You do.
