It is extremely funny to me to imagine this happening in an American context.

It would be like Marco Rubio was on track to win 2028 with record numbers, cratered to Ben Bernanke as the Dem candidate and then Bernanke proceeded to convince multiple senators to join the Democratic caucus.

Can read this as "candidate quality doesn't matter, but Collins retains a high floor," or you can read it as "both candidates are low-quality, & if any of the strong governor's race candidates entered the Senate primary they could clean up"
2026 Maine Senate General

Collins vs. Mills
🔵 Mills 43%
🔴 Collins 43%

Collins vs. Platner
🔵 Platner 43%
🔴 Collins 42%

lowkey one of the biggest NY Metro news items of the year, Port Authority has so much potential and is run by bums, if they can get it together under Garcia then it's huge for traveling to JFK, EWR, and all connections across the Hudson River

The delta between what Biden did and how much anger he got for it and the absolute crickets Trump has gotten for making the student loan landscape *magnitudes worse than it was before* is absolutely one of the most enraging things about this entirely enraging era.

Bryan Reisberg spends one day a week taking shelter dogs out of their kennels, slipping them in a “adopt me” backpack and carrying them around New York.

His goal is to help people see shelter dogs the way he does: curious, sweet and full of potential. https://wapo.st/4iPToS0

the best part is that he is actually genuinely really mad about this, because Cuellar has broken the golden rule of Trump deals: he gets to stiff you, you don’t get to stiff him

liberalism is going to require something martial and vicious and somewhat fanatic if we want it to survive. it won't be the liberalism we grew up with. it will be an uglier, harder thing for an uglier, harder world.

it is a hell of a thing to ask, like, liberal arts college cultural studies majors to become the nation's inquisitors. but, we are being faced with genuine evil. I do not see another way past it. we either accept the internal conflicts of what we must become, or fail

If you're in the Atlanta area and you're looking to bring a dog into your world, Luna would be a fantastic addition to your family. So this kind of thing is genuinely extremely useful for building public support for court reform.
You just have to look up Judge Jeffrey Brown’s resume and then wonder what it must be like for him to have the Roberts Court basically go, “You fool. You idiot.”

Note that a 14pt shift left in a red state is still catastrophic for the GOP: the only safe red states in such a wave (assuming even distribution) would be ID, OK, TN, KY, ND, AL, SD, WV, and WY.
looks like two completed counties (v red rurals) with Behn improving on Harris by 10 in one and 15 in the other -- huge shifts but not winning shifts

the Needle took a big dive to the right on the reporting of the Williamson County early vote, now R+5.7

betting markets now aligning on 5+ pt margin

Let me get this straight: we trained this guy to be an elite killer, abandoned his country to the Taliban, isolated him, arbitrarily banned him from working and so left his family unsupported.

I don’t know if there’s any more efficient way of producing a mental health crisis outside of torture.

lib owning does not improve economic mobility for Gen Z
one thing I have been observing some of the New Right point out is that this sort of rhetorical combativeness is really a means for the admin to shift focus fron policy to friend/enemy fights
Does the White House think this is going to win them support with Gen Z?

A great, heavily sourced tick-tock from CBS Sports' John Talty on what was happening behind the scenes for weeks with Lane Kiffin, LSU and Florida — before everything hit the fan in the past 48 hours.
Why Lane Kiffin left Ole Miss for LSU: Inside the decision
A fiery airport scene capped the end of Kiffin's Ole Miss era -- the product of weeks of secret meetings, shifting loyalties and a blue-blood offer he couldn't walk away from.

For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

Jeffries says not to expect Democrats to pursue Hegseth impeachment over boat strikes
"Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor," he said.

everyone wants there to be an easier or flashier answer than winning like a thousand Democratic primaries for offices other than the presidency but there is not an easier or flashier answer than winning like a thousand Democratic primaries for offices other than the presidency
this is a perfectly good theory which presents the problem that it has not happened once in american history
Independent, pro-worker, class warrior candidates can absolutely beat Republicans in red states if they are not tainted by the Democratic Party brand. The labor movement can make this happen systematically.
