Could a more moderate candidate have done better? We’ll never know, because none of them could win a primary. Just as easily they could’ve lost by more, because there’s no definitive answer to a hypothetical

This is unfortunately a common take amongst moderate commentators on the TN special, even the Bulwark. Drives me bonkers. The moderate candidates all flamed out in the primary! As much as people like Bazelon wish it werent so, primary voters chose who they want to be their candidate
