Living at one of the epicenters of this, I also find it galling that people who aren't have either ignored any mention I make of it, or explicitly told me that being too empathetic (as if I were somehow immune and safe despite being Black) will make me mentally ill.
Astonishing to stop and realize that, at any given moment, bands of masked men armed to the teeth are storming churches and daycares, terrorizing entire communities—and that most of the country's political establishment barely blinks.

The sickest irony is that those campaigning against the humane treatment of refugees are the same people who deny climate change, drive gas-guzzling 4x4s, never use public transport, heat their patios, support genocidal wars and regularly take long weekends in Tuscany, Nice, Gstaad & Casablanca.
People fleeing climate change are as legitimate refugees as those fleeing war & persecution.
The rich countries are mostly responsible for climate change, so we have a responsibility to take climate refugees.
Their homes will never to be safe to return to.

1) go outside
2) meet your neighbors
3) be loud
They want you to be isolated and afraid so they can work in secret, control the narrative, and act with impunity. They lose power when we see what’s happening and to whom.
