tie any deaths that may have occurred because of these policies to them. I haven’t read anything about someone in the US dying in a Catholic hospital because of their refusal to terminate when there’s a heartbeat. But I knew a decade ago it had likely happened.

I told my maternal and child health professor in grad school about the danger of these policies, she was horrified that Catholic hospitals didn’t terminate ectopic pregnancies but let them rupture. I sent her articles about it. It wasn’t her area of expertise, but still, an MCH professor had no clue

Spoiler alert- it was a Catholic hospital. I’ve been reading stories about people being denied miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy care at Catholic hospitals for well over a decade now, and people have definitely died because of these policies, but maternal mortality data is imperfect.

DYK: if healthcare facilities and/or providers in massachusetts discriminate against you in contravention of state law and/or licensing requirements you can file complaints with their licensing boards and you can do this even if you think they're otherwise nice people

I’m seeing “we told you fetterman was bad, maybe this time you’ll listen” posts from the blue wave types, aimed at Platner. It’s going to be interesting to see how it shakes out, the problem with no bench is the candidates haven’t been raked over the media coals and milkshake duck is too likely.

My mutuals from Maine aren’t excited about her jumping in. There’s one area of the state I feel welcomed by, and I swear I can feel it when I pass the ley lines or whatever when I leave. I don’t think they’re gonna put up with anyone trying to tell them who should win. It’s a weird, great state.

People in Houston will have gone most of this year without congressional representation. There’s a rep from Arizona waiting to be seated. We need to build the bench so we can strongly encourage incumbents to retire gracefully instead of dying in office.

Yeah, they probably should have gone with whatshername, the California senator who died in office. But, again, they need to be shamed. I can’t remember if the rate of congresspeople dying in office is actually higher or just seems so, but we’ve got seats open now because of deaths.

I’m against ageism in principle, but honestly, at this point, I’m fine with shaming the party leaders for failing so horribly to build a bench of people 55 and younger who can run for these offices. I say 55 because that gives them a decade before usual retirement age. They need to retire.

Al Jazeera is doing videos of the Palestinian releases and they're heart wrenching. One man was detained for over a year and was released to find out that Israel had killed his two kids. The youngest was three. Her birthday would've been on Saturday. He'd made a small bracelet for her in prison.
