Adding a black moulding/accent on the bottom to level it out (ignore the stairs in the back, not sure I'll even end up using those and I just bought them and stained them)

Couple of little bad splotches and spots that are (i assume) results of the wood glue not playing nice with the stain, but it came out good.

PainChek is one of these behavioral models, and it acts like a camera‑based thermometer, but for pain: A care worker opens the app and holds a phone 30 centimeters from a person’s face. For three seconds, a neural network looks for nine particular microscopic movements—upper‑lip raise, brow pinch, cheek tension, and so on—that research has linked most strongly to pain. Then the screen flashes a score of 0 to 42. “There’s a catalogue of ‘action‑unit codes’—facial expressions common to all humans. Nine of those are associated with pain,” explains Kreshnik Hoti, a senior research scientist with PainChek and a co-inventor of the device. This system is built directly on the foundation of FACS. After the scan, the app walks the user through a yes‑or‑no checklist of other signs, like groaning, “guarding,” and sleep disruption, and stores the result on a cloud dashboard that can show trends.

I tried substantially lighter stains and all of them produce similar results, just in different colors. It also bleeds all the way through. I actually hit it with canned air and was able to force some of the stain out the other side, but that didn't like... give a good result :p

So at Michael's, they sell these little things meant for wood burning projects, I think. Little coaster-sized slices of basswood. I figure I can buy them, turn them into little 1/12 scale tables with ease, just gotta stain it

Everything else I've done up until now has been stain on face grain.

Pretty much every part of this process has ended up being that. Makes me wanna do more tiny woodworking, because it does just really consistently seem to turn out nice.

With uh, maybe one or two exceptions, lemme dig up some photos, they're honestly kinda funny...

All of my stress was from before I saw the color with the wood stain applied, after that it was all "well shit, that looks excellent." :p

I'm VERY happy with it, honestly kind of shocked at how good it turned out. The really messy pattern on the popsicle stick one is from me being just... really bad at cleanly applying the wood glue, but it seems to have worked out great.

That's probably all I'm doing tonight, gonna let that dry and figure out what other pieces I need to actually assemble it and keep it stable tomorrow.

The popsicle sticks after applying a wood stain. The wood glue has made the pattern really inconsistent in a way that looks kind of natural.

Wooden dowels after the wood stain. Much less wood glue mess, so much more consistent stain.
