It's a real indictment of the horrendous state of NZ media that this actual data gets essentially no coverage.

Meanwhile I can't even count the number of "failing cafe owner blames cycleways for his poor business performance" stories...

In some good news in Aotearoa (New Zealand), the country’s High Court temporarily blocked the belief-motivated ban on puberty suppressants.

The Justice stated that there was no evidence that such care harms trans youth, but that there was evidence of harm of the contrary if proper care isn’t given

The government's Electoral Amendment Bill ends same-day voter enrolment, bans prisoners from voting, & allows for larger anonymous political donations.

They want to stifle your voice. Tell everyone to enrol at least 13 days before the election. #nzpol

New Zealand's unwillingness to invest properly in the people who literally put out fires is absurd and weird.

Fires are terrible, they absolutely must be put out, the people who do that dangerous and unpleasant work should be paid extremely well.

This isn't hard people.

wow a New Zealand political party who has detailed policies that are publicly accessible to read prior to next year's general election,

AND has policies developed by its own party members.

They probably deserve more members, volunteers, and donations to lead the next govt.

If you’re looking for a lift- and for policy that doesn’t hide bare minimum ideas behind the rhetoric of progress - take a look at the Greens platform.
For me, a timely reminder that we don’t move forward by lowering our expectations, but by affirming that hard things can and should be done.👇

Crucially, the way he talks about Labour being different is primarily about setting expectations, not about values or ways of acting. 'We promised too much' being his takeaway and not 'we promised but didn't explain or effectively build buy-in or follow through or...' is I think telling
...what has he been doing for the last almost three years then??

The empirical literature on Richardson's fiscal prescription is not contested. It was bad. The health outcomes were bad. The child poverty outcomes were bad. The housing outcomes were bad. The relational state was undermined for the control and contract state.
Waiting for analysis on the material impact of the Mother of All Budgets, and just how structurally bad it was, instead of analysis on fudge. FFS.

#NZPol Oh look, regulatory takings in an important foundational bill. Where are the fucking morons like @graemeedgeler.bsky.social who insisted that Seymour’s RSB was all good, nothing to worry about and concerns overblown?
Luxon & Seymour's new laws are a trap. Hidden in the fine print: ratepayers must compensate landowners with cash if environmental rules stop them from developing. It’s your hard-earned money going straight to the wealthy. A kick in the guts. #nzpol thespinoff.co.nz/politics/09-...
