My mother survived walking through Hiroshima the day after as a 13 year old, so I have a fair idea of what a nuclear holocaust looks and feels like.

so anyone who has like an ounce of experience with the outdoors knows bamboo actually burns really poorly. Also anyone who has been following this and isn't a racist freak knows this was almost certainly an issue of the cladding like Grenfell was but I know that doesn't get the weird sinophobia hit!

It's so cool how this government is doing so many Trumpian things- voter suppression, climate denial, interfering in education against expert advice, destroying healthcare, rolling back environmental protections- but we're still largely treating them as normal and being like 'But how's the economy?'

Whenever NZers have an option to say publicly that they don't believe in what this government is doing to Māori, there are more on the side of right than the side of wrong
- more people voted for Māori wards than against them
- more schools decided to give effect to Te Tiriti than did not

The use of technology to perpetrate violence against women is a rapidly growing problem, Australian research shows.

Amanda's husband always seemed to just know things. When fiddling around with her social media settings, she discovered how he had been using technology to gaslight her.

Boards Chair here - before our BOT passed a motion affirming our commitment to Te Tiriti, I received emails from parents and teachers urging the board on.

The union never said a word.

Amazing that reaffirming a commitment to Te Tiriti is viewed as "anti-govt" (his words)

Mince is now averaging $23.17 per kilo, meaning it is slightly more expensive than lamb chops, which sat at $22.27.

But hey at least we gave landlords $2.9 billion in tax cuts.

Jodie is a highly respected professor of teaching mathematics. Jodie understands every aspect of pedagogy & assessment.

Stanford, with a BA in Pols, doesn’t even under how NCEA works.

Books are so under priced and under valued.

Think how little an ebook or a paperback costs, for all the hours of enjoyment you get even reading it once.

For the huge effort that goes into creating a story, the months of work by an author.
I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.
