I missed this awful detail in the Senate deal: helping politicians who conspired against America as part of Trump's coup hide their phone records.
That's right, as ICE brutally violates rights in ways that leave people with no recourse, the Senate found time to protect their colleagues from justice.

Buried inside the deal to reopen government is a provision that would give Senators private right of action to sue for millions in damages over their phone records being analyzed by Jack Smith's team.

If you ever see one of Schumer’s Eight Traitors, you have a basic responsibility to make sure they are never comfortable showing their faces in public again without being loudly reminded that they are disgusting sell outs to Trump responsible for killing 50,000 people a year.

I’ve said it before, but I’m probably gonna say it a few more times: the thing about @bsky.app is that, ideological siloing notwithstanding, it’s just mostly a *technically* better platform for reporters than other Twitters.
Better for traffic. Better for sharing. Verification still matters, etc.

I mean he is the head executive and was a major part of football ops until 2024 (or so they claim, I don’t buy it). He’s the one who ultimately oversaw hiring multiple terrible head coaches including Petrino. The Petrino fiasco should’ve been the end of his time in Atlanta

No matter how they voted last night, every one of them has a say in maintaining Chuck Schumer and Dick Durbin as their caucus leaders. Every one of them is accountable here.

Harm to SNAP recipients, federal workers, and others is real. In a normal democracy it’d make sense to prioritize reducing that harm in the short term.
In a rapidly backsliding democracy, harm is happening no matter what. Preventing authoritarian consolidation is the most harm-reducing move.

The craziest part is that Republicans could’ve ended the shutdown on their own anytime they wanted. 50 senators is all it would take.
But they didn’t feel like it. Which is accepted as a premise, so fixing things becomes Democrats’ responsibility, and apparently enough Democratic senators agree.
