It’s not shocking that a GOP toadie like Griffith would put out such rote, duplicitous slop. Nor, at this point, that the RTD would give him space to advance a project antithetical to any honest reading of MLK’s views. But that doesn’t mean it’s not bad! Virginia deserves a better paper of record.

Back in August, people around Virginia were
shocked and disappointed by a racist sign held up by a protestor in Arlington, Virginia. The sign, which read "Hey Winsome, if trans can't share your bathroom, then blacks can't share my water
fountain", hearkened back to Jim Crow segregation, a time when Winsome Earle-Sears
would have been forced to use a different water
fountain than her protestor. That was a time when
Democratic governors had been running Virginia
