For the festive season, Philosophy Playtime has broken with the tradition of selecting questions totally anonymously and at random from the ideas box. Instead, I asked the most recent participants to ask some ‘seasonal’ questions. From our 3 December session, we have three questions (that are ‘sort of’ anonymised and randomised) specifically for the playtimes over Christmas and New Year.

Just finished this, another great recent introduction to logical empiricism, The Vienna Circle by Sahotra Sarkar. Very accessible, but also goes into the technical bits regularly #jesuispositivist #philsci
A huge number of people were deprived of citizenship by the Nazis. Political opponents first, then Jews. Maybe more than 200,000 people in total.
without birthright citizenship in the united states, you don't have a democracy and you don't have rule of law.

revoking birthright citizenship gives fascists free rein to purge the country of literally anyone they don't like. it opens the door to atrocities and mass murder. i am not exaggerating.

An Aurora Framed

I planned for this shot to have a nice wee shape, with dark skies across the top. The trouble with Aurora though, they don't listen! So much bigger and more intense than expected!

Labour was all about "controls on immigration" to tackle "very real concerns" even under Ed Miliband in 2015. The "very real concerns" at the time were about Eastern Europeans. An extreme step was taken to tackle the supposed "problem" and the hatemongers instantaneously pivoted to new "problems".
