Well, I've had an absolutely lovely day. The David Bowie archive was brilliant (in fact I want to spend at least a month just wandering around V&A East), and we had a really nice meal out with Rob and Courtney. And Ian Watkins is dead so that was an extra cherry on the cake :)

If you're not British and you're wondering why British people are largely expressing satisfaction at the death of Ian Watkins, DO NOT Google what he did. Really don't. It is hideous and distressing and you dont need to know. If there's a hell, he's going there, alongside Hindley and Brady etc

Seventeen days after the eruption, the 304th Air Force Reserve found Robert Landsburg three miles west of Mount St. Helens. In his ash-covered bag: camera, film, and ID—all shielded.

Published in National Geographic in 1981, his photos became iconic records of the eruption.

So that some good might come of this, I'd like to encourage everyone reading this to make a donation towards Barnardos' work with victims of child trafficking. Here's the link.

Milankovitch cycles—infinitesimal shifts in the planet's rotational axis that allowed marginally more sunlight to hit the planet over millennia—repeatedly brought the Earth out of its ice ages.

It was mad to think that 1.3C of heating in, like, a century wouldn't totally destabilize our climate.

And by "in" I do of course mean "into a horrible boiling pit in hell, which is where you deserve to be, you pedo scumbag".

Well, it's official. After our paper last year (onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....), the Slender-billed Curlew is officially declared Extinct today.

Scientists dream of describing new species, not writing their obituary and epitaph, knowing that they are gone forever #ornithology
