There for sure are people ragging on the as yet unseen show, but most folks are just ragging on a poster, not hating the show. Bluesky is our watercooler and enjoying or mocking a poster has pretty much zero relationship with if we will enjoy a show or not.
The amount of Starfleet Academy hate based on a poster is absolutely astounding. This fandom needs to do better this year.

While I agree that streaming era trek has a pretty poor batting average in live action, it’s very funny to have an altar to Roddenberry Quality, seen at its purest in TNG S1-2, which until ENT was considered the nadir of the franchise. Also, as if Gene would have been against a musical ep.
Well, it's also because Discovery and everything after hasn't been that great. Sure, some of Picard was fine and season one of SNW was fun but the rest has been crap. We have learned not to expect Roddenberry quality any more. The two guys in charge want musicals etc. Fuck that.

I don’t think I’m going to make it to the Kill Bill Whole Bloody Affair release, which… bums me out. But, seeing all this effusive praise for Uma’s performance seen as a whole really has me questioning critics who saw each half separately and dismissed it.

Since becoming a parent I have not, in fact, understood the parents who say “if you were a parent you’d understand” about vaccine hesitancy. Being in charge of this fragile little miracle has me saying things like “give her all the vaccines. Turn this baby into a pincushion” to doctors

I think an issue in the Trek fandom (and other fandoms) is that some percentage of fans are, idk, maybe "traumatized" is too strong of a word, but they've been negatively affected by past fandom drama and their reaction to what they perceive as toxic negativity is to lean hard into toxic positivity

Apropos of nothing, The Cleaner is one of my favorite/least-favorite/most-meh shows that I should by all accounts absolutely adore, but the style of the writing and storytelling is screaming for stage-bound later-era Python yet is lit & shot as modern realism and the clash… no, it doesn’t work.
