“Pulling Poland away from the EU” is pulling Poland towards Russia, we all know this, right
A longer, unpublished version of the new US National Security Strategy identifies Poland as a country the US should try to “pull away” from the EU, according to leaked excerpts.

It also calls for the US to support parties that “seek sovereignty and preservation of traditional European ways of life”
Fuller version of Trump security strategy reportedly calls for "pulling Poland away from EU"

one of the problems with how westerners (and we can include branko in this because he's the worst kind of westerner: an easterner who assimilated in emigration and now acts like he's better than us) talk about eastern europe is quite simply that they do not hold themselves to the same standards ever

it's incredible how many raw ideologues of all stripes expect people from the second and third worlds to just endorse killing their families for a Purpose
Ok. If forced to choose between your version of progressivism and the safety and wellbeing of my people and family, I choose the latter. Extremely easy choice thanks

yep.
also, as non binary artists who did went to art school 27 years ago, I think that bigots using 'art student' as derogatory term to further slander young people in the age of ai slop being pushed on us everywhere is no coincidence
Something I'd like to address. There's this idea that TQ+ folk are all 21 year-old art students... and all the 'normal' old school folk are LGB and entirely left behind and confused by 'pronouns'...

Every talk I give, know who the most outspoken trans allies are? Queer folk in their 70s!!

The (lack of) coverage of the drone attack on Zelenskyy’s plane is tbh in line with how the West views EEuropeans: as expendable, as savages who Just Attack One Another and can’t help it, why report on water being wet

This is going to sound conspiratorial, but it is serves the LLM techbros for the 'em-dash = AI' lay-belief to persist.

While em-dashes are diagnostically unreliable, it undermines the legitimacy of real writing/scholarship. And when real can't be discriminated from false, the false can thrive.
I don't doubt this—but it does bug me that em-dashes are used as a heuristic to spot LLM-generated text.

Fortunately I can point to my 2020 doctoral thesis and show that I was overusing and abusing ems well before el el ems.
The US National Security Strategy seems to be—at least in part—written/edited by AI.

There are hallmark AI em dashes in nearly every other paragraph — shocking but unsurprising.

I fucked up my sleep schedule a lot, because it's dark and weird and I'm out of my sleep aiding supplement. I tried to unfuck it with one of my methods (tm) but accidentally fucked it up even more, sigh. second attempt in progress.

I've run out of flour?
I mean, there's a ton of flour in this house, but not the basic wheat flour, which I've used all up right now. I'm about to find out how yeasted rolls do with oats and semolina.
my grocery store is playing holiday music already, can they have 5kg flour bags for pln9,99 again?

This is why folks call it a tool of fascism. It generates fear and distrust, which benefits fascist liars.
one insidious thing about gen AI is it's not just causing us to mistrust dodgy images, it's also making us mistrust images that look perfectly normal. this is gaslighting in a very literal sense bc the technology is undermining the trust we have in our own ability to perceive reality!

A reminder that every time Ru appeals to legal arguments (Ru constitution includes Ukr regions; Ru can't legally sign w Ukr because martial law has postponed elections), we should laugh. Ru law is utterly devoid of legality; it's a pure instrument of the state for post hoc justifying its actions.

IMO the weird exception some supposed leftists seem to make for condemning-the-theft-of-labor-except-art-lol-steal-that-shit is just a weird intersection with puritan "if you enjoy yourself, it's not a real job" brainworms.

"fun" job = member of the leisure class (ROFL) = fair game. Somehow.
Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.

We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.

hey, I clean regularly! how else I would have space for all these books, plants, pottery, and weird and probably cursed things I found on the walks, not to mention all the art supplies
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

I picked up a crayon as soon as I mastered motor control good enough to scribble on walls and just never put it down. my parents provided paper, more crayons, and sealed the deal with art albums and museum visits. there wasn't much thoughts involved in the process.
