I've been looking through my digital collection of psychedelic 60s posters in order to get into the grove with creating this style of typography, since I'm really out of practice (it's for new stickers) and it's making me really nostalgic but in a nice way

I've run out of flour?
I mean, there's a ton of flour in this house, but not the basic wheat flour, which I've used all up right now. I'm about to find out how yeasted rolls do with oats and semolina.
my grocery store is playing holiday music already, can they have 5kg flour bags for pln9,99 again?

This is why folks call it a tool of fascism. It generates fear and distrust, which benefits fascist liars.
one insidious thing about gen AI is it's not just causing us to mistrust dodgy images, it's also making us mistrust images that look perfectly normal. this is gaslighting in a very literal sense bc the technology is undermining the trust we have in our own ability to perceive reality!

A reminder that every time Ru appeals to legal arguments (Ru constitution includes Ukr regions; Ru can't legally sign w Ukr because martial law has postponed elections), we should laugh. Ru law is utterly devoid of legality; it's a pure instrument of the state for post hoc justifying its actions.

I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

IMO the weird exception some supposed leftists seem to make for condemning-the-theft-of-labor-except-art-lol-steal-that-shit is just a weird intersection with puritan "if you enjoy yourself, it's not a real job" brainworms.

"fun" job = member of the leisure class (ROFL) = fair game. Somehow.
Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.

We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.

We're not lounging around eating bonbons. We're trying to figure out how we're going to be able to pay rent next month.

Society is a construct. You can just ask someone to do a ska cover of Faith of the Heart and they'll say "$300 please" and you give it to them and then you have it.

Everyone, give

hey, I clean regularly! how else I would have space for all these books, plants, pottery, and weird and probably cursed things I found on the walks, not to mention all the art supplies
Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

I picked up a crayon as soon as I mastered motor control good enough to scribble on walls and just never put it down. my parents provided paper, more crayons, and sealed the deal with art albums and museum visits. there wasn't much thoughts involved in the process.

Why are we surprised that the USA, which is currently indiscriminately bombing civilians in the Caribbean, supports the side in the Russo-Ukrainian war that's currently indiscriminately bombing civilians in Europe?

What about their actions says that they care about Europe or international law?

Funny how we all just “have to” accept AI as progress even if it’s janky and either has demonstrated no improvements to productivity or outright tanks it, but we never had to accept remote work despite every study showing it improves productivity AND workers lives.

Hmmmmm

Altman has been quite clear about his strategy.

From the 2008 crash he learned that if you bind enough of the economy to your business you can do whatever you like; government will decide the rules no longer apply.

What he's selling is unaccountabilty.
I honestly don’t get the value of this company. They hoover up energy and water. Their product constantly gets things wrong and, in extreme cases, coaches people into suicide.

And it’s all built on what seems to be malicious and vast intellectual property theft.

What does OpenAI offer the world?
