Man, they really destroyed Everand. I've had a subscription since back when it was just Scribd, but now it's riddled with Synthetic Voice narration and outright fraudulent slop. Crazy that a platform would do this to itself

I dreamed I was at a con hotel where staff looked normal and every guest looked like a variant of John Astin, no matter their race or gender. Also the number ten didn't exist. @kellylink.bsky.social had a good turnout for her panel on music in fiction (& did not look like John Astin).

I need everybody to read this and understand what’s going on. These are spouses of US citizens in the country legally. They have entry clearance and green cards, they’ve passed background checks and have no criminal records. ICE is taking them anyway.

Writers love socialized books (libraries)
TAPS SCREEN

For like the zillionth time: Libraries are FREE for you, but WE still get compensated for our work!!
Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

Libraries defeat every argument.
These are pretty naked -- and therefore instructive -- examples of the sorts of defenses that people offer to try and get off the hook

I'm going to do a little thread on how the money from books works for traditionally published authors because people have questions, and this is always useful info to share IMO. First, a big disclaimer that every contract is different, and there are a million factors that can change things. 1/

So next time people wanna ask about why authors don’t talk about their personal finances online to strangers let’s all remember how strangers online behave to writers.

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.
