I think a lot that is wrong with fan culture can be seen in the strange insistence that something like “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey”, which is awful, is somehow more offensive than the “live action” remake of “The Lion King”, which is just as bad - it’s just “official.”

Saw someone arguing about the AI voices situation and their point in defense of using AI was “there’s a new Max Payne remake coming out, the main voice actor died, how else are they supposed to give him a voice?”

And this is what folks like Michael Caine etc are enabling, not just the fact that their voice print is being used by companies in place of human voice matches or just straight up new talent, they’re enabling the idiocy of “but it has to be exactly the same as I remember” as an argument.
