Socialization theory has been so utterly mangled that people don't fundamentally understanding it's not Girl or Boy Programming, it's absorbing the dominant cultural values we grow up with.

My spicy socialization take is that we mostly use the phrase "female socialization" to refer to raising someone to be a people-pleaser so they don't get hit, and as people constantly at risk of getting hit, trans femmes receive it as much as anyone else
“Male Socialization” of trans femmes isn’t a real thing. Invoking it just shows you’re a bozo trying to misgender us.
Trans people were never really socialized as our AGAB. At best, we were pressured to mimic norms that gave us dysphoria.
It’s an obvious TERF / Blanchardist dog whistle. Do better.

There’s a synthesis here, where trans people were largely shut out of media coverage where persuasion is the name of the game, and thus most people would interact with community arguments through Twitter/other social media, which will tend to boost people uninterested in persuasion

what's tragic is that twenty-five years ago the community faultlines were in exactly the same places they are now. we just had slightly different words for it all.
The idea that "old trans people were all reactionary and pro-gatekeeping" is mostly a myth made by younger generation who don't want to interact with older people and reassure themselves by telling they are a lot better than the older one
