I'd actually prefer to have a president who didn't commit crimes at all, actually. Is that too hard to ask?

People are going to die because of the pending insurance premium hikes. I know the terrain of discourse is inconsistent and goes through a tumble cycle every 24 hours, but I really think we need to hone in on this reality and drive it home for people.

Yeah bc the people who think letting “AI” make a little movie clip is a good idea also think that letting “AI” think for them in the writing department is a good idea.

It’s slop all the way down.
while i think the backlash was against ai use in this ad, i strongly believe that what makes it bad is the writing. it's a terrible idea. mocking a season people associate with love, family, joy, celebration, etc. and associating your brand with misery, misantrophy, resentment. the intent is off.

You know in Europe they riot about this kind of thing.
A new investigation has revealed that grocery delivery service Instacart is using a covert, AI-powered dynamic pricing scheme to charge customers different prices for the same items — potentially costing households over $1,000 more a year.
Instacart Reportedly Using Secret AI-Powered Dynamic Pricing to Jack Up Prices
In an experiment, investigators found that the same grocery basket at a Seattle store cost between $114 and $124.

NEW: An AI conference was bombarded with complaints about peer reviews sounding AI-generated. A startup jumped in with an outside analysis, estimating that as many 1 in 5 could have been ChatGPT-written. Chaos ensued.

Now the reviews are being reviewed.

NEW, from me: One startling stat captures just how badly the year went for the GOP.

Democrats flipped 21% of all GOP-held legislative seats at play.

That's thanks to gains they made in six states this year, and I break it all down in my latest:
In 2025, Democrats Flipped 21 Percent of GOP-Held Legislative Seats - Bolts
At the start of Donald Trump’s first presidency, in 2017, large Democratic victories in New Jersey and Virginia, paired with overperformances in special elections, foreshadowed the blue wave of the......

I agree that we're likely setting ourselves up for a very long process of asbestos-like remediation efforts around "incredibly stupidly and carelessly implemented LLM tools that were rolled out after 2022"
I've noticed that people who use the inevitability argument always make comparisons to email and social media, never to NFTs or DDT.

I think the so-called "AI" stuff is going to be the tech version of asbestos: shoved in everywhere, expensive and time-consuming to remove.

folks we are into “breaking gerrymanders” territory here

we are going to win
This Georgia flip is in a district that the GOP drew to drown Democratic voters in Athens into a neighboring red county, Oconee.

But tonight, Dems in Athens were out in FULL FORCE to swamp that gerrymander.

I think the coded language most ignored is how the right uses “inefficiency” to mean “things not yet being profit maximized by private equity” rather than “running smoothly with minimal waste”

Or, hear me out, instead of persecuting a minority group that is not known for making enough money to afford to own houses, we stop private equity from buying up and hoarding housing to rent out at exorbitant rates.

Immigrants aren’t the problem, capitalists are.

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

Okay, ignoring everything else about this: hyper-realistic police sketches are *worse* than hand-drawn sketches.

When we see a sketch, we intuitively understand it as a rough approximation, and we see similarities. With realistic images, we expect it to look *exactly* the same as the person.

The number of parents who I have met that do not understand that their kids are autonomous beings is truly horrifying.

And people wonder why so many adult children of emotionally wretched parents don't want to talk to their folks.
and the first step to being a parent is recognizing that your children are their own people, not extensions of you

For those of you who think the so-called settlement from Anthropic is good, you should know they stole millions of works, but are only paying for novels. No shorts, non-fiction etc. And if you're a non-US writer, like me, you get nothing even with a US copyright because non-US authors don't count.
