I'm going to try to make sure any donking on the Dems I do, I'll include a codicil to blame Trump and the GOP. Like adding "...and confusion to the French!" when you toast.

There's a lot of reason to hate Reagan, but I would lay most of the blame on Gingrich.

Blame them, sure, but you really need to reserve at least one degree of premium, platinum-tier blame for the guy most responsible for all this.

Reduction in Force. All people RIF'ed from October 1st to now need to be rehired, and no RIFs are allowed until the end of the CR.
The mechanism of enforcement is the Anti-deficiency act, which is real and has serious teeth, and the explicit nature of how it's spelled out is not nothing.

What is RIF language?

Trump and Republicans already did an economic turnaround, and in record time.
They took us from Biden/Harris’s economy, the envy of the world, into record job losses and tariff-fueled price hikes in just two quarters.
Even the Wal-Mart Thanksgiving dinner went from 21 items under Biden to just 15!

James Blair, one of Trump’s top political advisers says that while “it takes time to do an economic turnaround,” Trump is “keyed into what’s going on” and will be “very, very focused on prices and cost of living.”
I don't believe him.

I’m pretty sure none of the eight who flipped are up for reelection next year. Which is why I think a lot more than eight were ready for the shutdown to end – and the eight who could afford to stepped out.

Seriously, for their own good, Dems who voted for this need to not be saying “we did a good thing, this is why.”
The line needs to be “we fought like hell to get healthcare back, but Donald Trump was willing to burn the country to the ground.”

Durbin said critics of his vote “need to understand how the Senate works”

3 GOOD: some real approps working right for the first time in EONS, built based on need & politics, not from toplines. SHALL language on backpay 4 feds. Good anti-RIF language we’d want to see continued
2 BAD: Nothing forces Trump to actually FOLLOW the approps. A vote we could have forced already

They caved for a promise to hold a vote. A meaningless pre-determined vote, if it happens at all.
Oh well. Probably best not to be pleasantly surprised twice in one week. Might get used to it.
The torture will now resume.

Dem Senator Ruben Gallego is a no on the CR:
“I have been clear on this from the beginning: I will not turn my back on the 24 million Americans who will see their premiums more than double if we don’t extend these tax credits.”

Shaheen is nearly 80 years old, so can't be much of a concern for a lobbying career. Durbin is even older and in clear decline.
The one who is much younger; can and should be primaried, is Gillibrand. Without question. Obviously, same for Schumer if he runs in 2028.

Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.
Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."
Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

And the companies won't be subsidized, so they'll jack up the prices. To make money, they'll stop covering 'high-risk' patients and have caps on how much of a payout you can receive.
This is exactly how it was before the ACA. It was a nightmare for everyone but insurance execs.
