yeah, the right thrives on sites where making people miserable is rewarded by the algorithm.
The real question is not "Why is Bluesky so left-coded," the real question is "Why can't the right exist in a social media environment without algorithmic assistance, where people can ignore them"

weird to me how so many liberals still dont understand basic conservative grievance framing. re that bible essay. it doesnt matter if the essay sucks. the point for the right is

- she is pretty
- she is a "christian"
- she's being "persecuted" for not bowing to left wing dogma

Everyone saying ”giving that essay a zero was probably too harsh, I would have given it like a 70% to avoid conflict” are perfectly demonstrating how the us education system has been successfully dismantled.

the girl and her mother are basically screaming THIS IS A BAD FAITH ATTACK ON TRANS PEOPLE at the top of their lungs and if you can't see that you're stupid or lying
a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

If you are a chair of a department or supervise grad students, it might be important to collaborate with your colleagues on ways to strategize when a "problem essay" comes down the pike. It's one small way of protecting each other.

The fact that the essay specifically mentioned her first amendment rights seemed like a pretty clear signpost that this was a set-up for a lawsuit all along
As folks have noted in the replies, the student's mother is something of a MAGA public figure (and lawyer).

This is obviously a purposeful stunt to attack a trans graduate student, which is sick af and must be opposed on the grounds.

It is simultaneously an assault on university pedagogy.

Katelyn brings the focus where it belongs: on the attack on the trans TA. I have to assume the student intentionally took the class to do this and we need to rally around the TA

on the one hand trans people are human beings who deserve the same rights as everyone. on the other transphobia plainly turns a person into a intolerable freak who alienates their friends and family bsky.app/profile/luck...
I keep saying it, and saying it, and saying - cis people, if you are a trans ally we need you to stand up for us, visibly and loudly and constantly. It's no longer enough - for anything, but especially trans rights - to assume that the default position is supportive, because it just isn't.
this is a key point. various elite centrists and liberals have become radically pilled on transphobia (likely on Vichy Twitter) and joined the right-wing exterminationist crusade

The idea that Trump is not functionally president should be treated as a hypothesis for which we accumulate evidence in the form of policies that cannot be traced back to his directives. If we find illegal orders & policies exclusively associated with underlings, they can be canned more easily.
trump is the president in the sense that he holds the office but he very clearly isn't the president in the sense that he has basically relieved himself of its duties

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.
