It's true that Cinemasins-style "criticism" has done a lot to erode the actual useful concept of what a plot hole is, but if the ending to your story relies on the protagonist sacrificing themselves when someone who could flip the switch and not die is standing five feet away, sorry, that's on you
Bethesda’s Todd Howard admits the studio was caught off guard by how much players hated the original Fallout 3 ending

“People hated it! They expected, like, ‘Why would the game end?!’ You know, ‘The other games don’t end!’”

This is also true for difficult or 'controversial' policy and legislation.

You will lose sometimes. Even often. But you can lose badly - shrink away from ambition, give concessions to the opposition for free, stop trying at all - or you can lose well.
I would just add an analogous lesson in the arena of elections for public office:

It is not losing elections that, in themselves, constitutes failure; it is reproducing the cultural norm of treating those losses as a basis for demoralization, demobilization, and not trying again that's the failure.
We also cannot be afraid to lose union elections. In fact, we cannot be afraid to lose on a larger scale. It is far better to fight and lose than to not fight at all. In fact, the insistence on running union elections only if we will win is contributing to our slow death.

No fan of Massie (he's the ex-MAGA far right white folks post Trump golden boy and has campaigned on transmisogyny among many other things), but if he is a thorn in Trump's side, then good.

It's obvious they are setting out to kill him and he's pre-empting any PR spins about it being suicide.
INBOX: Rep. Thomas Massie, who has enraged Trump for his insistence on blocking tariffs and releasing the Epstein files according to the law, just issued what is widely known among Chinese dissidents as "a declaration of no suicidal intent" (不自殺聲明), a sign of extreme distress.

Funny, when drones can launch white phosphorous bombs on brown people the state is all "we need drones, they are our friends, don't get in their way."

However, when they bring power to the people to stop domestic occupation, suddenly it's regulation-o'clock.
I wrote about MAGA’s war against normal American drone users - and how they’re trying to take control of the skies for themselves.

I need folks to understand this. The idea that local police forces will intervene at scale against ICE is a utopian fantasy totally disconnected from how policing has always worked
Police departments across the US are quietly leveraging school district security cameras to assist Donald Trump’s mass immigration enforcement campaign, an investigation by @the74.bsky.social reveals.

“People feel it in their guts, on the streets. Abolish them, because otherwise they will execute us.”
NEW — I spoke with Rep. Delia Ramirez (@ramirez.house.gov) about her calling DHS leaders "inheritors of the Klan hood and the slave patrol," the prospect of one day seeing them behind bars, and what it's like to see the public [finally] embrace her long-held dream to abolish ICE.

Our conversation:
"The day of accountability will come": Rep. Delia Ramirez on abolishing and prosecuting DHS
The Handbasket spoke with the congresswoman who called out ICE long before it was popular.

Remember to tell people that things have NOT DEESCALATED. Pulling 700 agents means there's 2,300 agents on our streets, terrorizing us and kidnapping our neighbors.

There is no explanation for this other than sadism.

Sadism is the primary job perk for these people. Sadism is what attracts them to the work. Sadism is what keeps them in it.

Their primary motivation is to indulge their sense of sadism and revel in their power. They must be purged from society.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

tbh it says a lot that $70 games keep underperforming while $40 - $60 games keep either meeting or exceeding expectations, maybe one of these days C-suite execs will get it
One takeaway from the DICE convention here in Las Vegas, where game makers gather to pitch and schmooze?

Most video games should not cost $70.

Video Games Need to Be Cheaper to Buy
One way to get out of the video-game industry funk is to recognize that players aren’t spending $70 on most games

Capitalism embodies cronyism, racism, and imperialism. Those who negate this are in denial and are replacing harsh truth with a sanitized image of a great country. However, it's a history of oppression and injustice, and it's only bad *now* because it affects white people.
Trump is rewriting the rules of the economy. … Is it ‘crony capitalism’? : Consider This from NPR

There seems to be a lot of discussion about Gavin Newsom today.

I wanted to re-share this piece that I wrote, because I have a lot of center-to-left Dems that follow me that want to understand.

There are very good reasons transgender people do not like Gavin Newsom.
