I've only just gone to the "knit and sew shop" at my local Michaels for the first time since it's "grand opening" a month ago. It's a sign over the yarn and single section of precut fabric we already had. The only new product are two models of sewing machine and a single roll of quilt batting.

Michaels is really out here pissing on us and calling it rain, lol. New product roll outs take time, but you lying about having sewing supplies in the meantime is absolutely not endearing to the customer. And they've actually had fabric online for a few years before Joann liquidated!

At this point, our intro comp/first-year English course has been so heavily revised, it no longer includes a novel, or "extended reading" of any kind, no "specialized" or "historical" reading, mostly in-class assignments, no research essay...and we are still seeing a 40-50% rate of AI misconduct.

It's only a matter of time before humanities departments will be forced to accept AI-authored assignments, as part of revised university policy to cooperate with these billionaires. It's already happening, and our response needs to be decisive. Because our students' ability to *think* is at stake.

No, I 100% agree that computer RPGs these days have too much handholding. I, too, yearn for the days of being able to spend hours crafting my perfect build from hundreds of available options, only to discover that it mathematically cannot survive the mandatory rat fight portion of the first dungeon.

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

I have volumes of ugly tracts about how Jews, Germans, Finns, Hungarians, Poles, and "Papists" can't possibly acclimate to American life because they are hereditary degenerates.
