I am truly shocked to not find more thinkpieces on the incredible graphic design and typography of Zohran Mamdani’s campaign but maybe that’s because searching on the internet is garbage now.

Gov. Newsom at Davos rips into world leaders who think they can appease Trump: “I should have brought a bunch of knee pads for all the world leaders.…this is pathetic”

There is no place in the Democratic Party or the broader pro-democracy coalition for Gavin Newsom. Accommodating him (& any leaders like him) makes it an undemocratic coalition, and that's a nonstarter.
Just read Newsom's comments and couldn't be any more angry. The US inflicted this lunatic on us and he has the gall to say Europe looks "pathetic ... at least from an American perspective". It's like a man who willingly lives in a pigsty claiming that someone who trod in dog shit smells bad.

I’m sure it’s been regifted by now.
Last week while meeting with María Corina Machado, I presented her with the bipartisan Senate resolution I helped pass honoring her work fighting for democracy in Venezuela. Her courage is an inspiration to all who believe in liberty.

I’ve been around & worked with local & state law enforcement agencies for a long time. I’ve never — not once — seen one refuse to investigate an officer-involved shooting, particularly a fatal shooting. It’s standard procedure & critical for public trust.

Not for this clown car mess of a regime.
BREAM: Is the FBI investigating the ICE agent who shot Renee Good?

BLANCHE: What happened has been reviewed by millions of Americans bc it was recorded. We investigate when it's appropriate. That is not the case here. We are not going to bow to pressure. So no, we are not investigating.

ICE ended up returning the man, Saly, after realizing he’s a fucking US citizen with no criminal record, per his sister-in-law. These fucking animals.

People are scared about right now , because many of them have to admit they don’t stand up to bullies. Most have no real framework after all these years that are t bullying tactics themselves .

They’ve never caught the trend of cruelty,
and abuse and intervened unless someone else did it first

You might've heard that Mpls public schools went hybrid bc so many families are in hiding. Well, a coworker just told me that today, during his kid's hybrid class, a kid's apt building was raided onscreen

To be fair, though, did you expect a school with a slug as a mascot to be quick and easy to get around?

As I was being tailgated down W. River Parkway by a large SUV with tinted windows, the thought occurred to me that it might help if everyone drives a bit slower. Gives observers more time to identify feds.

We have a 20 MPH speed limit on residential streets, let’s weaponize it

I’m so glad I motivated and went to this. Last moderated question was how do you overcome fear? Best answer:

“We do not need to obey in advance. While we have rights, we need to use them.”

UC-Santa Cruz may be the most pedestrian-hostile campus I’ve ever been on. To get to the bus I had to walk along and dark busy road with no shoulder (not to mention up & down several staircases or roughly paved paths).

This is a huge part of why I don’t have much patience for anyone claiming that either we simply do a general strike or we’re fucked. No, that’s stupid, that’s not how this works, that’s not how any of this works
No, we don't have the resources right now for a general strike. We don't have the rent and food funds or the bail funds or the child and healthcare funds.

But the response to that isn't "welp, we're fucked, so much for a general strike."

It's to start organizing those things in your community.
