I suggest that we start using the phrase "Mr. Beast and the CEO of Salesforce will be there too." as shorthand to explain how little we want to be at any given terrible event.

Like 30% of the country is absolutely enraged because they thought they were going to be able to be utter shitbirds without anyone being allowed to call them shitbirds, but here we are, calling them shitbirds.

Oppenheimer bio progress: "He thinks building an H-bomb would create genocidal weapons that could not ethically be used in war. Clearly this means he's a secret communist intent on losing the inevitable nuclear war we are planning."
Another big feature of Oppenheimer's life was extremely real and bare-faced antisemitism. Multiple educational institutions avoided working with him even after he was hugely famous because they "had too many Jews already".

I have now seen 7 minutes of Stranger Things. Show seems pretty intense.

I feel like a lot of 80s songs got away with long breaks of just saying "la la la" in a way that would never fly today.

Look, Nvidia thought it was a gaming company and OpenAI thought it was a charity so if you're expecting either of those companies to have some master plan to avoid the bubble popping you need to look elsewhere.

I think the npm client should probably follow pnpm in making post-install scripts be opt-in and recording that decision in package-lock, so if a package that was previously inert suddenly has a post-install script, it wouldn't execute.

"BUT WAS HEEEEEEEEEE?" - this biography, over and over.
I'm reading a biography of Oppenheimer and the author spends like half of the book so far debating whether or not he was a communist and concluding it's impossible to know. Spoiler: he absolutely was.

A reporter asks if Mamdani stands by calling Trump a fascist. Mamdani starts to give a delicate answer.

Trump (smiles, pats Mamdani's arm): "That's OK, you can just say yes. It's easier. I don't mind."
