‘His life is in danger,’ U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro said about newborn Juan Nicolás. The child fell ill after spending almost a month — or half his life — in a San Antonio-area family detention facility.
Seeing bidets as a mark of excess luxury (both here and with Mayor Mamdani) always confuses me, because I bought mine at an overstock store for like $9. Seeing them sold for hundreds of dollars for what boils down to a bit of plumbing line with a pressure switch is so weird.
The interior of Kristi Noem’s new billionaire-class luxury jet is complete with two bidets and a wet bar with a wine chiller. It will be purchased on our dime from the slush fund Congress approved in the One Big Beautiful Bill.

This whole thread is great, but I wanted to expand on this point: even if Starfleet cured *every* earthborn condition, they are always finding new diseases that they haven't found a cure for yet. That's like a quarter of the plot lines of every show!
2) They have a disorder for which there is no cure. Starfleet medical has *plenty* of things it can't wave a magic wand about, especially if they've survived something which *would* have killed them without Star Trek medical wizardry. This is the best case outcome.

Bondi crashes out over Epstein: "The Dow is over 50,000 dollars! I don't know why you're laughing. You're a great stock trader as I hear, Raskin. The Dow is over 50,000 right now. The S&P at almost 7,000, and the Nasdaq smashing records. That's what we should be talking about."

There is literally no better example of textbook fascistic thinking than "Who cares about human rights when the rich are doing so very well"
"rich dipshit owner doesn't understand the industry he's bought into and clumsily destroys what made it good" feels less like a narrative unique to the washington post and more like the music that's been playing in the background of all our lives for at least 40 years

I don’t agree that criticizing Gavin Newsom, which I have done in many and varied and detailed posts, carries with it a responsibility to offer an alternative. If someone is about to eat poison, it should be okay to say “Don’t eat that poison”

Instead of "Stop saying 'gestapo,' just compare them to the slave catchers from our own history" you can say "That's exactly right, and we know the gestapo well because they copied the slave catchers from our own history" and then you're on the same team magic trick boom.

Transphobes talk about wanting to "protect women and girls", but when was the last time you saw one jump in the way of a boss's attack and risk critical damage and possibly one or more status changes? Never, that's when. So shut up.

they should make a movie series about how it’s irresponsible to use technology to mess with the natural order of things for profit
Even in the uncropped image, I don't understand how anyone can look at this and empathize with the masked agent over the guy on his knees crying. Especially with the red-tinged flag behind them, it's really clear who the villain is here, and it's not Alex.
