as a note, food banks need money, not canned goods
In one week, food aid is going to run out if the federal government is still shutdown. 1 in 10 Americans will not get paid they rely on in November, like SNAP. Please give to local food banks now, if you are able. Look into local groups that are providing meals and things like diapers. This is bad.

Imagine for a moment a world so dependent on data centers that every aspect of municipal infrastructure must be reshaped. Not around human need, but maintaining GPU farms that use exponentially more power and water with each build. Models are only growing, and our resources are only diminishing.

They are lying about our cities. They are lying about our immigrant neighbors. They are lying about our trans siblings.
Just posting something silly that made me happy recently. I’ve embraced singledom so fully that even my seltzer recognizes it. Perhaps it is I.

What's being "protected" is not "free speech" but rather the RIGHT for white men to be white supremacists in public without any criticism or any consequences. I hope that's clear.

I'll never step into another Target.
I don’t think these companies get how sick and tired of this right wing crap people really are.

let's be clear:

it is the mark of a fascist state that in the wake of a public murder the ruling party immediately scapegoats its political opponents

it is the mark of a fascist state that despite the truth coming to light, it will not deter them from continuing the lie or correcting themselves

If we try real real hard and stop that and protect the voices hate speech pushed out we can win

But we’ll do stuff like try and bargain and have “constructive dialogue”
It turns out that protecting hate speech did not create the conditions to protect other kinds of speech; instead, it protected hate and allowed hate movements to take over all the institutions of that might have defended the rest of us.

The same Supreme Court that said it is unreasonable to consider race when giving kids access to education, has said it's reasonable to consider race when looking to remove someone from the country.

Funny how that works.

they think they can just erase trans joy and trans freedom. they can't. they can make things a lot harder and more painful. but that joy and that freedom is not theirs to take and it is incumbent on all good people to say so.
YESSSSSSSSSS!!! Life is worth living.
BREAKING: Silksong will be out on September 4. Two weeks from today. Really.

Often, games that take 7+ years to make are plagued by mismanagement and painful burnout. But for Silksong? Team Cherry was having a blast. They still are.

This is their story: www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
Why ‘Silksong’ Took Seven Years to Make
The highly anticipated indie game has been in production for so long that it’s become an internet meme

Cities aren’t scary.
You are scared.
There’s a difference

Exactly. So obvious.
Baltimore Mayor Scott response on Trump: I think it's very notable that each and every one of the cities called out by the President has a black mayor, and most of those cities are seeing historic lows in violent crime…

We need to teach people the difference between being uncomfortable and being unsafe. Because the discomfort of the safest people is endangering the most vulnerable, all day every day.

Metro @wmata.com · Jul 20
Did you know transit is 20 times safer than driving a car? Each year, public transportation prevents more than 2,500 injuries related to car accidents. Take Metro!

A Nazi owns Twitter, right wing billionaires own the Wall Street Journal and the LA Times, and CBS is run by a right wing nepo baby who just fired one of the network’s biggest stars for criticizing Donald Trump. Here’s why America has a left-wing media bias problem.

Making the county that holds this atrocity own the fact that it’s in their yard is an excellent strategy.
Instead of “Alligator Alcatraz” or “Alligator Auschwitz”, let me suggest that we call it simply the Dade-Collier Concentration Camp.

Hang the name on Florida. Make them own this disgraceful moment in U.S. history. Make our grandchildren lobby to change the name of Dade County out of shame.
Can bikes be taken on the shuttles?

Glad to see Van Hollen choosing to oppose racism. More Democrats should try it!
We should all be disgusted by the flood of anti-Muslim remarks spewed in the aftermath of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the NYC mayoral primary — some blatant, others latent.

Shame on the members of Congress who have engaged in such bigotry and anyone who doesn’t challenge it.
Attacks on Muslims flood mainstream after Mamdani win
Openly racist rhetoric has become normalized at the highest levels of American politics.

i genuinely dont know what other industry has failed as speculatively as journalism has failed at meeting this moment

we are talking about whether zohran is going to do a sharia law while gop has been trying to pass a bill to strip medicaid to pay for concentration camps like
